VALENCE ELECTRONS: Electrons in the


outermost energy level of an atom with
a special significance. They determine
many of the properties of an atom. An
atom is most stable if its outermost
energy level contains as many electrons
as it can hold.

ATOMS VOCABULARY
These vocabulary cards can be used in several different ways.
1. Keep as whole pages for a science reference notebook
2. Cut on dotted lines and fold both ends inward to create a
flashcard with the large word on the front and the image/small
words on the back. Laminate or tape these closed.
3. Cut out all cards – large word, image, small words – and use for
matching.
