The document describes TrainTools server software which allows multiple client programs to access controller data and alarms without overloading individual PCs. The server software includes OPC servers to connect to different controller types, alarm servers, an archival database, and communication services for local and remote clients. It provides centralized monitoring, data sharing, and archiving for multiple turbomachines across a network.

TrainTools human-machine interface (HMI) programs employ a

modular, client-server approach that allows multiple Windows
PCs to simultaneously display data from the same controllers
without overloading their central processing units (CPUs) and
PID communication channels.

Any system employing TrainTools HMI programs must include at

least one PC running an appropriate server software package:
RAM • The full Server Package, which includes all OPC/DA servers,
all alarm and event (AE) servers, archival data management,
and the web communication services, is required in order to
run the TrainView2 or TV2Web client software (see PB5522).
• The Platform Servers package, which omits the archival data
management and web communication programs, is sufficient
for running only the field Engineering Utilities (see PB5511).

OPC Online Data Access Servers

Each platform communication server program allows OPC/DA
clients to communicate with a specific type of controller (third-
party clients may not be compatible):
• The Series 5 OPC Server provides access to the HMI
variables of Series 5 Vanguard and Reliant Controllers.
• The Series 4 OPC Server provides access to the parameter
database variables of Series 4 application function modules.
• The Series 3 OPC Server provides access to supersets of the
Modbus data provided by Series 3/3 Plus / 3++ Controllers.
• The Modbus OPC Server provides access to configured
subsets of the Modbus data provided by third-party slaves.
• The Script Engine OPC Server calculates custom data items
based on inputs from OPC/DA servers.
