HARDWARE HACKATHON
The event is conducted in two rounds. The first round will be an abstract submission round for which the
Powerpoint Presentation template will be provided by us beforehand. The second round is a 30 hour
offline round, where the participants are required to bring their own hardware components to build the
prototype and will be provided round the clock guidance.
Rules:
● Participants must stick to the theme and the list of components provided.
● Components assembled prior to the event can’t be brought .
● Participants must build the complete prototype in the stipulated time.
● Electricity, WIFI, working space, mentorship and guidance will be provided.
● Food and hospitality shall be taken care of.

Rules:
● Round 1 (Gear up): An online aptitude test. This round will happen on the XY of December and
participants can take part in this round through Unstop - an online platform. The selected participants
will have to turn up for the next two rounds on the Xy of December at BMSCE.
● Round 2 (Renegade): In this round, participants have to portray their persuasion and marketing abilities.
There are no prerequisites. All you need is to prepare yourself for an adrenaline rush! Top 5 participants
will be promoted to the next round.
● Round 3 (Point Blank): This is a stress-interview round. In this round, participants will be posed with
questions from judges in front of a huge audience. The title, LiveWire ‘23, will be awarded to the most
impressive and witty candidates.
● Format: 3 talks will be held in one day. The slots are as follows:
10:30 AM to 11:30 AM - Slot 1
12:30 AM to 1:30 AM - Slot 2
5:00 PM to 6:00 PM - Slot 3

Codemine is a 24-hour coding marathon, a DSA-focused Codeathon that invites coding enthusiasts to
showcase their prowess in data structures and algorithms. Whether you're a seasoned DSA expert or just
starting your journey in this field, this event is your opportunity to challenge your problem-solving skills,
collaborate with like-minded individuals, and compete for top honors.
Rules:
● Code of conduct: Participants are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes a respectful and
inclusive environment for everyone.
● Submission deadline: Submissions must be made before the specified deadline. Late submissions will
not be considered for judging or prizes.
● Original work: All code and project submissions must be original work created during the codeathon.
Plagiarism or using pre-existing code is strictly prohibited.

Pragathi is the intercollegiate project competition by Phase Shift 2023. The theme for the competition is
‘Tech for Good’ intertwined with the central theme of Phase Shift, ‘Techtopia: Into the Future’. We
challenge you to innovate and create projects that prioritize solving pressing social needs and societal
challenges, taking a step into the future. Projects that embody the spirit of social service and sustainability
will be at the forefront of our competition.

Selection Process:
● Idea Submission and Live Presentation: Participants will undergo a stringent shortlisting round,
submitting their project ideas along with live video presentations, overseen by a distinguished panel of
judges.
● Finalist Showcase: Shortlisted participants will be invited to BMSCE on the days of Phase Shift to set
up their stalls, and evaluation will be done by a panel of experienced judges based on predefined criteria.
● Public Voting and Judging Panel Evaluation: We will employ a dual evaluation system, balancing public
voting and expert judgments at a ratio of 30:70, ensuring objectivity.
● Anonymity through College Codes: To eliminate potential bias, each college will be assigned a unique
code known only to the organizers. Judges and voters will not have access to this information.

AI hackathon where participants will use the concepts of AI to generate efficient and robust models
capable of predicting results impacting a wide range of users.
Rules:
● The hackathon comprises two stages spanning over 10 hours. A fixed scoring criteria will be adhered to,
in both stages of the hackathon. Prior to entering stage 1 of the hackathon, teams will be required to
select one of the two problem statements presented to them. On selection of a particular problem
statement, change in problem statement will not be entertained under any circumstances.
● Stage 1: This stage will require teams to ideate and develop a system design of the model that will be
used to address/solve the problem (chosen prior to start of the hackathon). Teams will be required to
present their idea/approach on PowerPoint slides/Google slides. A fixed scoring criteria will be followed
to score teams based on novelty of idea, approach to the problem statement and presentation of the idea.
Failure to adhere to the time constraint (4 hours) will result in disqualification.
● Stage 2: This stage will require teams to work on their approach to achieve successful implementation of
the same within the stipulated time. Failure to adhere to the time constraint (6 hours) will result in
disqualification. A fixed scoring criteria will be followed to score teams based on the degree of
successful implementation and accuracy of the model.
● Candidates have to bring their own laptops and stationery.
● In order to ensure fairness during the conduction of the event at all times, teams will be required to use
Google Colab for training models. WIFI access will be provided to all teams during the event.

presided over by Mr. Arul Mani, one of the most famous quizmasters in Bangalore. Harmonizing BMSCE
Quiz Club’s astute minds with the seasoned insights of Mr. Mani, this collaborative effort promises to be
an intellectually enriching experience for all participants.

PERFECT PITSTOP
Perfect Pitstop is a mashup of an exciting futuristic puzzle-solver with the end goal of assembling a Wheel
onto the wheel hub of a car axle. This ultimately tests the participants awareness of their surroundings and
their physical ability to mount a wheel, thus adding a dash of adrenaline as they race against the clock to
climb the leaderboards.
Rules:
● The participants(A team of 2) must solve a series of Puzzles/Questions with clues provided to them
before they enter the event.
● Thus using the end solutions of the puzzles the participants must unlock a number lock to get the
necessary tools needed for mounting the wheel.
● The Bullz workshop will be the sole place where the answers will be scattered.
● The fastest participant to complete this series of challenges will be the Guido of the workshop.

The main theme of this interesting event is investigating a crime scene based on prior events and
analytical skills. The participants will have to investigate the crime scene and check the reports that relates
to the crime. Based on the clues, they will have to identify the killer and the causes of death. Not all the
clues will be given directly.
Based on all the evidence and clues the participants should come up with a theory which should clearly
tell the story behind the death(s).

The ultimate objective was to locate the final key that would unlock their escape, all within a stringent
time limit of just 10 minutes. The event was meticulously designed to put their problem-solving skills and

● Participants who analyse the case efficiently and determine the exact cause of the Air Crash wins.
● Final verdict should be presented as a report.

MAZERUNNER MICROMOUSE
Bringing back our flagship event mazerunner with major advancements. A larger and more
complicated maze, a smarter and faster mouse and records to be beaten. The main objective is to
build a small robot with the capabilities of understanding its surrounding and reach the goal without
hitting the obstacles. The fastest time wins.
Rules:
● Participants must present a robot which must not exceed the limitations specified.
● Participants can participate individually or a team of 4.
● The bots must be completely autonomous.
● The teams are allowed to have two test runs wherein the bots are allowed to learn about the maze.
● The time taken on the third run is going to be counted and each team is going to have only one go at it.
● The teams are allowed to use any materials or any algorithm for the bot.

Electrostorm is an electrifying treasure hunt that challenges teams' problem-solving abilities with
basic electronics concepts. Teams must decipher riddles, navigate the time machine's path, and
decode scriptures before engaging in the final round. Using the provided treasure map, teams will
hunt for components across the college and assemble a digital key to unlock the future's ultimate
mysteries, all while racing against the clock. So, don your thinking caps, lace up your running
shoes, and prepare to pave your way forward.
Rules:
● Participants must solve each round sequentially and decipher hints and codes to unlock the subsequent
round.
● Throughout the event, teams are allowed to use any resources of their choice, including Google, but
discussions with other teams or friends are not permitted.
● Completing side adventures along the main voyage will earn teams brownie points.
● Timers will track the teams' progress, and the first 20 teams to successfully hunt the components will
advance to the final round.

Laser tag is a popular game that simulates combat for goal of eliminating enemy players. The laser tag
event is designed for 2 teams with 4 people each.The gameplay begins with two teams on two different
start points in an environment like
a maze.On a given signal, the players can start tagging each other. A player is tagged when their laser tag
vest is hit by the infrared beam from another
player’s gun. The equipment of the player who got tagged, is deactivated for 20 seconds. The game
continues until all the players of one team exhaust their lives/ the time limit is
met.Each round consists of two teams with a time limit of 10 minutes.
Rules:
● Teams will consist of 4 players each and 2 teams will be allowed in an environment similar to a
● maze.
● • The game will be played on a designed maze. Players will attempt to tag each other with the
● provided guns attached to the vest.
● • Once a player is tagged his equipment is deactivated for 20 seconds.
● • Players will not be able to shoot opponents who are disarmed.

● Round 1: Mutual Wars Welcome to the interstellar clash of space colonies! In this epic battle, three
teams will engage in mutual wars, armed with a fixed set of resources for surviving in the space
colony. The key to victory lies in decoding words and waging a war on the other two teams.
● Gameplay: 1. Each team decodes words to launch attacks on another team, gaining valuable resources
upon success. 2. Teams can choose to go to war with either of the other two teams. 3. Events will be
added to spice up the competition: - Example: A Drought in the planet— decreases the resources of a
team. - Example: Technology boom — boosts the resources of a team.
● Victory Criteria: The team amassing the maximum resources progresses to the next round from each
set of three teams.
● Round 2: Each team will be given a set of bitcoins as resources on the basis of previous round score.
● Each team should invest a bitcoin and choose between two color cards , where each color card
signifies either a drop or rise in the crypto market. A pre-set graph will be projected on the screen after
all the teams have exercised their choices. A set of mini games will be played, where teams can boost
their resources. The next game will be a Auction based, where each team has to bid for a particular
resource and the highest bidder gets the resource. After the complete round , the team with most
amount of resources will win the game.

Dragster.io is a drag-race competition in the form of a workshop. The event will be conducted for 2 days
where participants will delve into the fascinating world of miniature drag racing cars! Together, we'll
explore the ins and outs of constructing these speedy vehicles using Arduino, accelerometers and servo
motors. At the end of the workshop, watch them race along a 6-meter strip to see which car emerges
victorious! Note: The workshop for the event will be conducted on 12th and 13th December.
Rules:
● Participants have to make sure that the car moves in a straight line without hitting any barriers on the
side.
● Built and programmed Dragsters are made to race 1-vs-1.
● Time taken to complete the drag strip is noted. The slowest is eliminated.

● 1. This is a team event with 2-3 members in a team.

themselves, providing a strong & convincing conversation starter, outlining their problem statement, and
providing a succinct solution to that problem statement (which they have submitted at the end of round
1) with in 2 minutes.
● ROUND 3:In this phase of the competition, each team will have three hours to create a presentation .
The best teams will be chosen based on a number of factors, including their presentation skills, level of

release of a lethal, engineered virus in a laboratory that has killed patient zero. The virus has now escaped the
containment room and can potentially infect the rest of the facility. It is the task of the participants, a team of 3
intrepid professionals tasked with finding “Patient Zero”.
The participants will have to follow a set of clues throughout different rooms in the facility while being faced
with role specific challenges which they will have to overcome using their different abilities by virtue of their
roles (such as medic, researcher, mechanic, soldier etc). The team that navigates the rooms the fastest wins.

Like Breaking Bad? Think you have Walter White’s skills to mix chemicals? Then this event is
for you. This event tests both - your theoretical knowledge in science and its inventions, as well
as your practical mixing skills. Gather your Jesse and your posse and embark on this unique
adventure!
Rules:
● There must be teams of 2-4 members.
● In round 1, the teams will be given a puzzle to solve with clues. 30% of the teams will get
through round 1 of the event (based on the score)
● In round 2, each team will be given an envelope with a set of clues. On solving these clues,
they will be given a set of chemicals to mix to obtain a certain colour. On doing so, they will
be directed towards another set of clues to be solved in the same fashion.
● On solving the last set of clues, the teams will have to combine all clues to come to a final
conclusion which is a term related to chemical engineering and future technology.
● There will be one winning team and a runner up team.

ArtBot: Where Creativity Meets Robotics
In this event, you'll have the opportunity to use your artistic skills to design the exterior of robots, infusing
them with creativity and aesthetic appeal. It’s a hands- on artistry event where you get to paint, decorate,
and enhance the appearance of robots using various artistic techniques, materials, and colors. The first
round will involve participants creating their sketches for the respective models which can be done using
digital art, or sketching using pen and paper. Once the teams have completed the sketch of their model,
they will proceed to the second round which will be an interactive session where the participants explain
their models and the inspiration behind their design. This is an exciting event where the participants get to
transform mechanical shells into stunning works of art. We also present to you the ‘The ArtBot Showcase’
where you can display and present your artistic robots in a showcase at the end of the event, celebrating
the diverse range of artistic designs and concepts.

Rockets are one of the most fascinating inventions by humans. A general perception of public is
that rocket just goes up and reaches its destination, while in reality there's a lot of complex
maneuvers and challenges faced by organisations to build a rocket. Come aboard for this
challenge where you'll be building your own rocket in a free to download software called
Spaceflight Simulator. Not only will you be building your rocket, but you will also experience
launching it to various heavenly bodies and land on them.
Rules:
● Participants must get their own mobile phones and respective charger for the simulator. Make sure
phones are charged before the event.
● This event consists of 3 rounds - 1 preliminary round and 2 major rounds.
● Participants must ensure that they have enabled screen recording, this will be used by judges for
evaluation.
● Participants will be constantly monitored by the volunteers.

● The Tech Solver must remain at their designated station and cannot physically assist the Field Hunter
● Field Hunters are permitted to utilize any tools or equipment provided by the event organizers within
specified guidelines.
● Points are awarded for successfully completing each challenge or locating hidden objects.
● Participants are required to bring their own laptops and are allowed to use smartphones and the internet.

● Participants have to get their own laptops and mouse for this event.
● Round 1:- Capture The Flag Points will be awarded for each level based on difficulty. Each team is free
to try any level at any time. When a team completes all nine levels or the allotted time runs out, the
contest is over. Bonus Level: If a team accomplishes to complete all nine levels in the time limit, they
may attempt the tenth level, the time earned will be converted to points for the next round. Internet can
be used in this round to figure out hints.
● Round 2:- Pictionary + Mouse Maze + Sync Icon Pictionary: The team must solve an emoji-created
puzzle to determine the password, and enter the correct password to advance to the next level. Mouse
maze: Once the team navigates the maze, they will be advancing to the next level. Sync Icon: The team
must choose the right logo amongst various app or business logos. Any team that fails to complete this
round within the allotted time will be eliminated. You cannot use any tech gadgets other than a single
laptop to solve the puzzles and internet cannot be used for this round.
● Round 3:- Algohunt An algorithm must be written that satisfies the criteria provided, that is the input
and output given in the question. The team with the highest total points will be declared as winners. If
two or more teams score the same amount of points, the first team to finish the quest wins. No tech
gadgets are allowed for this round.
