Be A Volunteer
Be A Volunteer
volunteer work
Charity work and volunteerism are some of the noblest acts of kindness that a
person can do. These selfless acts of kindness are essential to the survival and well-
being of many people, animals, and even the environment. Unfortunately, not
enough people engage in charity work or volunteerism, and this is why I believe
that people should do more charity and volunteer work. There are four key points
I'll be discussing: by volunteering, you can connect with others, build your self-
confidence and self-esteem, improve your physical and mental health, and advance
your career. And now, let’s begin with the first part
Volunteering can also help you develop important social skills, such as
communication, teamwork, and leadership. These skills are valuable in your
personal and professional life.
Volunteering can also give you a sense of purpose and fulfillment. When you
volunteer, you are making a meaningful contribution to your community or a cause
that you care about. This can help you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride,
which can boost your self-esteem.
The 2013 United Health Group National Survey of over 3,000 adults found the
benefits of volunteering were in fact measurable 96% reported volunteering
enriched their sense of purpose in life.
Volunteering can also help you stay active and healthy. Many volunteer
opportunities involve physical activity, such as cleaning up a park or working at a
food bank. And it can also help you develop healthy habits.
The study used the Survey of Texas Adults from 2004, a state-wide representative
sample of 1,504 adults aged 18 and over (Yeung, Zhang, & Kim, 2017).
Participation in certain volunteering activities were correlated with improvements
in several areas of health: 8.5% for mental health, 9.1% for physical health, 7.4%
for life satisfaction, and 11.1% for social well-being, as well as a 4.3% decrease in
depression, with results holding true when accounting for relevant
sociodemographic variables.
Volunteering can also help you stand out to potential employers. Employers are
often impressed by candidates who have volunteered, as it demonstrates a
commitment to their community and a willingness to take on new challenges.
Conclusion
In conclusion, charity work and volunteerism are essential to the survival and well-
being of many people, animals, and the environment. By volunteering, you can
connect with others, build your self-confidence and self-esteem, improve your
physical and mental health, and advance your career. Therefore, I encourage
everyone to do more charity and volunteer work, even if it's just a few hours a
week. Together, we can make a difference in the world.
