TCP’s Anne of Green Gables Audition Information

Artistic Director’s Note

Imagination, creativity and family continue to be solid themes for TCP. We all come together to create
“community theatre at its very best”, and build relationships and memories throughout the process. As a
young orphan, Anne Shirley continues to reach through challenges, express creative ideas, and build
community relationships who end up becoming family; therefore, representing many of the themes we
abide by at TCP.

Anne of Green Gables remains the longest running musical in the world, making it a fitting choice for our
40th Anniversary musical production. It continues to connect us to our roots of community and passion,
while also enlightening audiences with an enduring storyline.

TCP is beyond excited to return to the Trinity Theatre this spring for a full scale musical production.
Please read in detail the commitment and audition requirements below. Come and join the TCP family!

Brooke Gamble
Artistic Director

Director’s Note
My first community theatre show was Children of Eden, TCP’s 20th anniversary show in 2004. It remains
a formative experience in my life as a performer, and I am so grateful for the wonderful family I found
with TCP. Playing Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame for TCP’s 35th anniversary remains one of
highlights of my acting career, and my first directing experiences were here at TCP as well, with 2020’s
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and 2021’s Murder on the Orient Express. I’ve worked with many
wonderful theatre groups, and had fantastic experiences doing so, but for me, TCP means home, and so I
am so excited to “come home” to celebrate 40 years of this special company!

Anne of Green Gables is the perfect show to celebrate this milestone! Although published in 1908 and set
in the late 1800’s, Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic story remains timeless and relevant. Anne of Green
Gables’ story is moving and powerful, its characters nuanced and compelling, and its music classic and
fun. I am looking forward to exploring this with our cast and creative team!

One of the most exciting aspects of Anne of Green Gables is the opportunities it holds for the whole family
to enjoy, both onstage and in the audience. I hope we will see many TCP-ers come home to celebrate our
40th anniversary, and I hope we will see many new faces join the TCP community as well. Let’s get to
work making some theatre magic: see you at auditions!

General Expectations
● Everyone who performs on stage must pay a $20 participation fee.
● All cast members should be available 2 hours prior to performance for make-up and hair styling.
● All company members will receive their script at the first rehearsal and should be familiar with
their role, working towards full memorization.
● Every cast member will be emailed a “TCP Spring Show Information Kit”. It will include
everything you need to know about being part of a TCP show including how to check rehearsal
schedules, important email addresses and more. You should carefully read and fully understand
that document BEFORE you come to your first rehearsal.
● As a member of the company you are required to spend a minimum of 10 hours in pre-
production activities in addition to performing on stage and rehearsing. Sometimes this is work
that can be done at home (sewing/prop construction) or it may mean a Saturday work day doing

help to transform the community centre into the Trinity Theatre – a great time to fulfil some of
those hours.
