This document contains 5 assignments related to computer networks using Cisco Packet Tracer. The first assignment involves getting familiar with the basics of Cisco Packet Tracer including downloading, installing, and understanding its features. The second assignment demonstrates establishing a peer-to-peer connection between two PCs and simulating a LAN using a hub. The third assignment shows using a switch to communicate within a LAN and demonstrates static routing between LANs using routers and switches. The fourth assignment expands on static routing with 4 switches, 4 routers, and 8 machines. Assignment-01

Q. Basic of CPT Downloading CPT and getting familiar with it?

Basics of Cisco Packet Tracer

Introduction

Cisco Packet Tracer is a network simulator tool that allows users to create network topologies
and imitate modern computer networks. The software allows users to simulate the
configuration of Cisco routers and switches using a simulated command line interface.

Features

➢ Create network topologies: Packet Tracer allows users to create network topologies
with a variety of devices, including routers, switches, hosts, and firewalls.

➢ Configure devices: Packet Tracer allows users to configure Cisco devices using a
simulated command line interface.

➢ Simulate network traffic: Packet Tracer allows users to simulate network traffic
between devices.

➢ Visualize network traffic: Packet Tracer allows users to visualize network traffic using
a variety of tools, such as packet captures and traceroutes.

➢ Create and share labs: Packet Tracer allows users to create and share labs with other
users.

Uses

➢ Learning about networking concepts

➢ Practicing network troubleshooting
➢ Instructing networking courses
➢ Researching new networking technologies

3
Installation Process of Cisco Packet Tracer and its Graphical User Interface

1.Visit Cisco Networking Academy Website and download it which is suitable for your
Operating System

2.Open the downloaded file and setup it

4
3.Complete Setup And click Install.

5
Assignment-02

a)Establish a peer to peer connection and show that delivery of packet are successful also
check for mac and physical address of systems being communicating

Steps:

1.Make the logical structure of two PC’s connected with suitable wires

2.Set up their IP addresses

6
3.Checking for successful connections on command promt

Showing all configuration along with mac address and physical address

7
b)Simulate LAN using Hub and use Star Topology(minimum 5 machines).

Steps:

1.Make the logical structure of 5 PC’s and a hub connected with suitable wires

2.Set up their IP addresses

8
3.Checking for successful connections on command promt

9
Assignment-03

1.Demonstrate use of switch and show through simulation that switch is able to
communicate often in LAN only.

Steps:

1:Make the logical structure of computers and a switch with suitable wires

2. Assign the IP addresses to each one of them as shown above

10
Step 3:

Simulate the message transfer.

11
2.Demonstrate use of static routing with use of router and switch simultaneously to
establish communication in different LANs

Steps:

1.Make the logical structure as shown in fig above.

2.Assign them IP addresses as shown to all computers

12
3.For routers add serial ports and assign the IP’s in serial ports and fast ethernet port

4.Repeat the process for all routers and computers.

13
5.Setting up the static routes to which network the message will be send.

6.Verification by sending message by pinging in command promt

14
Assignment-04

a) Configure the static routing using 4 switches, 4 routers and atleast 8 machines.

Steps:

1.Make the logical structure as required 8 PCs,4router and 4 switches.

2.Assign them IP addresses as shown

15
3.For routers add serial ports and assign the IP’s in serial ports and fast ethernet port

4.Repeat the process for all routers and computers.

16
5.Setting up the static routes to which network the message will be send.

6.Verification by sending message

17
b)Build a basic network using static routing ,use server in each network and connect
each router to one another(atleast 2 router).

Steps:

1. Make the locical structure as shown in fig with 4 computers,2 routers,2 switches and 2
servers with suitable wires

2.Setting up the router configuration and do same for both router

18
3.Setting up the server configuration via DHCPand do same for both server

4.Showing successful delivery of message

19
Assignment-05

Configure the dynamic routing using 4 switches, 4 routers and atleast 8 machines.

Steps:

1.Make the logical structure as required 8 PCs,4router and 4 switches.

2.Assign them IP addresses as shown

20
3.For routers add serial ports and assign the IP’s in serial ports and fast ethernet port

4.Repeat the process for all routers and computers.

21
5.Setting up the RIP routes to which network the message will be send.

6.Verification by sending message
