1. INTRODUCTION
wPTU TM Toolbox is a software program which, when installed on a laptop computer,
provides diagnostic capability and the ability to download software or upload data for Off
Highway Vehicle (OHV) applications. wPTU TM Toolbox can be used on AC or DC trucks.
Requirements for the laptop computer are as follows:
1. 500 Mhz processor speed, minimum
2. 128 MB RAM, minimum
3. 100 MB available disk space
4. an available built–in RS–232 port
5. a standard serial cable with DB–9 male connector on one end and DB–9 female connector on
the other end.
2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: To download the software from the web, save the file setup.exe and then click on it

When wPTU TM Toolbox is started, a Splash screen (Figure 10) displays the version of the
wPTU application. After a few seconds, the Startup screen (Figure 11) appears.
Connection Status is shown in the center blue display window (Figure 12). A field for
password entry is provided. The functions available from the Startup screen are discussed
in section 3.2.
wPTU TM Toolbox will attempt to connect using all COM ports and all baud settings until a
connection is established.
wPTU TM Toolbox communicates with the target through a RS–232 serial link. A strict
protocol is followed to keep wPTU TM Toolbox and the target synchronized during
communication. The communication parameters for a specific target may be configured
using the Options menu.
4. Click ’LOGIN to wPTU Toolbox’ or press <Enter>. A typical list of truck types is displayed . The
type of trucks shown is dependent on the application.
