type of Fire alarm control panel is proposed to be
installed in the fire control room. Repeater panels will be
provided in the security office and security post outside
the building. With this type of a panel it will be possible
to pin point the exact location of fire. The panel will also
be able to dial out to predetermined telephone numbers
in case of any alarm.

e) Public Address and talk back system – An integral

public address and talk back facility will be provided
with the fire alarm system. The loudspeakers of the
public address system will be located in common areas,
and on each floor in such a way that any message
announced cover the loudspeakers is clearly audible in
all parts of the building. Also in case of fire, the fire
fighting personnel will be able to send back messages by
plugging their fireman’s telephone handsets over the
fireman’s telephone jacks which will be provided in this
system. The microphone, amplifiers and control

1.0 DESIGN PHILOSOPHY  National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

The HVAC system has been designed keeping in view the  Indian Standard Codes.
following:  Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL)

 Continuity and reliability.  ECBC-2017

 Concentration/distribution of loads.  SMACNA

 Energy efficient method  Relevant Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Codes.

 Controlled outdoor air quantity into the system  CPWD-2017

 Safety of personnel and equipment. 2.0 DESIGN CRITERIA :

 Investment and operational costs.
 Compliance with various statutory provisions.
 Ease of maintenance.

Winter 7.2°C (45.0°F) 5.0°C (41.0 °F) The envelope design must take into consideration both the
external and internal heat loads as well as day lighting benefits.
4.2 Inside Design Condition:-
5.1 Roofs:
Inside Condition The roof receives significant solar radiation and plays an

Walls are a major part of the building .The heat storage capacity
and heat conduction property of walls are key to meeting desired
thermal comfort condition.

External Walls:-‘U’ Value = 0.36 BTU / Hr.-Sft - °F.

5.3 Vertical Fenestration:

Window are very important component of the building envelope,

in addition to providing physical and visual connection to
outside it also allows heat and light in and adds beauty to the
building. Solar radiation coming in through windows provides
natural lighting, natural air and heat gain to the space inside,
thus significantly impacting the energy uses of the building. The
following properties are considered for vertical fenestration:

7.0 PROPOSED COOLING SYSTEM:
Dedicated Variable Refrigerant Flow System (VRF) is
proposed.
8.0 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION OF THE DESIGN
PROPOSED
A. HIGH SIDE VRF OUTDOOR:-

The proposed air conditioning VRF system is based on VRF

Technology with refrigerant R-410a which is chlorine (CFC)
- free refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP).
An outdoor unit is connected to various indoors units
through Copper refrigerant piping. These indoor units are
planned to operate individually or together as per the VRFunit and compressor should be of same OEM make.
requirements.
The VRV/VRF Technology system refrigerant volume shall
be modulated as per the desired capacity requirements. In
order to take care of individual air conditioning
requirement, the VRF system controls the air conditioning
capacity of outdoor unit to match the demand of this indoor
unit(s). VRF system ensures uniform & precise temperature
levels, the most optimum energy consumption and very low
noise levels of indoor as well as outdoor units.
High energy savings are predicted over comparable
unitary equipment. VRF is typically implemented with
the use of an air conditioner inverter which adds a
DC inverter to the compressor in order to support
variable motor speed and thus it has variable
refrigerant flow rather than on/off operation thus
enhancing the life of equipment.

Project: Africa Avenue, At New Delhi Page - 48

LOW SIDE: Conditioned air from the indoor units will be taken through
the ducting and will be supplied to conditioned areas
The following low side equipment are prepared in line with through diffusers/ grills. Return air will be collected
the above high side equipment to cater the air-conditioning through similar diffusers/ grills mounted on false ceiling
services. and will be taken to indoor unit through ceiling.

(i) Indoor Units:

Floor mounted DX type AHU will be provided. In large

halls/work station area air conditioning shall be done by
floor mounted DX type AHU. DX type AHU shall be
provided in respective floors.

Each AHU will be provided with complete AHU

communication Kit including DX-Type electronic expansion
valve, AHU kit or any other attachment or device to make it
complete and functional with the VRV outdoor unit and
central controller. Cassette type Indoor VRF unit
FM AHU will be provided with VFD for energy saving.

In conference halls cassette type indoor units shall be

provided and outdoor units of conference hall shall be
separate for each hall.

In smaller rooms/chambers also cassette type indoor units

shall be provided.

All indoor units will be provided with its individual

control system through digital thermostat/ remote
controlled.

(ii) Piping: Pair of Copper piping circuit (gas & liquid) will run
from ODU to each IDUs. The refrigerant circuit shall include
liquid and gas shut-off valves and a solenoid valves at
condenser end. The equipment will have inbuilt refrigerant
stabilization control for proper refrigerant distribution.

nitrile rubber of required thickness.

The initial section of all the supply air ducts will be provided
with acoustic lining with resin bonded fiber glass wool &
covered with reinforced Plastic tissue paper and 0.5 mm
thick perforated aluminum sheet at the inside surface of
ducts to prevent transmission of noise to air-conditioned
area.
