Argumentative (Abortion)
Argumentative (Abortion)
4. In United States politics, the Freedom of Choice Act was a bill that sought to
codify into law for women a "fundamental right to choose to bear a child;
terminate a pregnancy before fetal viability, or terminate a pregnancy after
viability when necessary to protect her life or her health". (Congressional
Research Services (CRS) Summary of H.R. 1964.)
Reasoning:
It is the right of a woman to carry a child or not. Thus, it is a freedom of choice
wherein a woman can choose what responsibility she decides to take. According to
United States Politics, freedom of choice is a woman's fundamental right to bear a child.
Therefore, we should consider the idea of not restricting a woman from choosing what
kind of path in life she may take. It is not a matter of killing life in a womb, but it is about
a much bigger responsibility a woman owes to a child when it's born. However, it does
not mean killing a life is okay. Still, we should reconsider that it is a highly emotional
subject that, if not resolved, may affect both lives at stake.
Equitable access to safe abortion services is, first and foremost, a human right.
Still, many countries are deemed to restrict the idea of abortion since it kills an unborn
life inside a body of a woman. According to philosophical thought, a man can do
whatever he wants. Still, he must carry the consequences of his actions no matter how
big and right it is for them. In line with this, a woman must also have the means to do
whatever she wants with a life she is responsible for, knowing to carry the
responsibilities of an action she made. Instead of restricting abortion, access to safe
and its availability is the best way to protect autonomy and reduce maternal mortality
and morbidity. Approximately 13 percent of maternal deaths worldwide are attributable
to unsafe abortion, so countries must consider that instead of restricting, they must
support a woman in safe abortion. Additionally, refusing information about birth control
may result in unwanted death that may cause alarm to the citizens of the country.
According to human rights watch, there are deaths between 68,000 and 78,000
annually caused by forcing a woman to carry unwanted pregnancies, pushing them to
suffer serious health consequences and, worst, even death.
In conclusion, it is every woman's right to choose whether to carry the life or
control its birth. When a child is born into the world, it takes too many responsibilities
that not all women have access to do so. Each person has their means to live, so why
are women restricted to an idea that would harm their minds and bodies? They already
have the means to carry the responsibilities they must take upon making the decision,
which is why the government must support them instead of letting them be. Unsafe
abortion would make a woman suffer from different consequences that would affect
both their mind and body.
