1 Purpose

 This method statement for concrete works applies to all concrete work of
permanent structure except lean concrete to be used as a mass fill.

2 Scope

 The sequence of concrete work is,


 Mixing (According to the approved mix design from recommended
Ready-mix suppliers)
 Transport
 Placing / Testing
 Finishing
 Curing

3 Specification References

 Structural Consultant’s guidelines and notes.


 BS standards and CIDA guidelines and specifications.
 Relevant / applicable construction drawings.

4 PPE Materials

 Following PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) should be provide in order


to all work.
 Safety Helmets
 Safety Boots
 Hand Gloves
 Safety Masks

5 Materials

 Form work materials (Plywood, Nails, Tie rods, Scaffolding and jacks)
 Mould Oil
 Reinforcement steel / Binding wires
 Polythene Sheet
 Concrete as approved
 Concrete repair Materials

8 Methodology

 Formwork to be initiated as per shop drawings in accordance with approved


standards with the specified tolerance to the shape, lines dimension required
by the design drawings.
 Apply of approved mould oil for formwork.
 Handing over to the MEP contractors to marking, positioning and placing of
MEP sleeves as required.
 Re-bar work shall be performed in accordance with relevant standards,
specifications and drawings.
 Placing of R/F steel in accordance with the given specifications. (Laps,
Cover and etc.)
 Placing of pipes, conduits and all other MEP requirements by the MEP
contractors.
 Clean and readjustment of above MEP work.
 On-site inspections for formworks, re-bar and MEP works.
 Pouring of concrete (required grade from recommended ready-mix
suppliers).
 Slab Concreting
 Slump test
 Pouring of concrete using pump car, buckets and chuter.
 Levelling of concrete as given SFL drawing.
 Consolidating each layer with using mechanical or electrical
vibrator according to the standards.
 Cube moulding for testing.
 Wall / Column Concreting
 Slump test.
 Pouring of concrete up to 300mm and consolidating with
using mechanical or electrical vibrator.
 Pouring of concrete 600mm by 600mm layers with
consolidating up to 2400mm.
 Construction joints, Expansion joints shall be formed in fresh concrete as
per given details and approvals.
 Testing,
 Slump test for every trucks.
 Cube test for every 25m³.
 One set of six (06) cube for each 25m³.
 One specimen shall be tested at 7 days and four (04)
specimens shall be tested at 28 days.
 One specimen shall be retained in reserve for late testing.

 Concrete finishes shall be as required in specifications and shall be free from


voids, honey-combing or any other concrete defects.
 Curing shall start as soon as free water has disappeared from the concrete
surface after placing and finishing.
 Concrete surface shall be initially covered by only polythene sheet.
 Concrete shall be cured for a minimum 7days.
 Preparing of any defects in concrete according to the consultant guidelines.

9 Inspections and Approvals

 On field site inspections and approvals sign off by team confirming


consulting Engineer and Contractor representative.

10 Health and Safety

 In accordance with the BML Health and safety guidelines.
