 We will make singular noun plural by using “s” at the end of the noun.

Regular nouns Plural

 When singular noun ends with s, ss, x, o, ch, sh we use “es” to make the noun
plural:

Potato Potatoes
 Some nouns in English are irregular. Irregular noun doesn’t follow the rule of
adding “s” or “es”. There is another kind of change to the noun.
 Some nouns have a vowel change like

Singular Plural
Foot Feet
Tooth Teeth
 Some nouns have a consonant change before adding the “es” in the end.

 Some nouns have different plural ending than “s”

 Some noun don’t change their form from singular to plural.

Situation: Sarah meets a new student.
Sarah: Hello, are you new here? I’ve not seen you before.
Hira: Hi, yes I’m a new student. I just arrived yesterday.
Sarah: I’m Sarah, it’s nice to meet you.
Hira: My name is Hira. I hope you can understand my English, I’m still learning.
Sara: Yes I can understand you, you speak very clearly. What are you doing here?
Hira: I am studying for my spoken English course. I will be here for one or two months.
Sarah: Great. I’m also studying English Language. Have you met anyone else yet?
Hira: No just my teacher.
Sarah: Do you want to come and have some coffee with me? I am going to meet my friends.
They would love to meet you.
Hira: That would be great, thank you.
Sarah: Don’t mention it. Where do you come from?
Hira: I’m from Riyadh. I think it is very hot in the Dammam.
Sarah: Yes it is hot but the weather will get better in the winter. Let’s go and meet my friends.
 Aminah: Good morning! I’m Aminah. How are you?
 Basmah: Good morning! Aminah. I’m fine, thank you.
 Aminah: What is your major?
 Basmah: English.
 Aminah: What are you going to do with an English major?
 Basmah: I'm going to be a teacher.
 Aminah: High school or middle school?
 Basmah: High school.
 Aminah: I teach high school English.
 Basmah: I didn't know that.
 Aminah: I started teaching five years ago.
 Basmah: How do you like it?
 Aminah: Do you see all this gray hair? It was totally black five years ago.
 Basmah: Maybe I'll teach middle school.
1) Learn numbers from 0 zero - 20 twenty.
2) Learn names of days in English.
3) Learn names of month of English calendar
4) You must be able to read and write above 3 points.
5) You must memorize these by heart.
6) Practice of the topics covered in class at home.
7) Find 2 nouns of each case studied in class.
8) We will have quiz on Thursday 9th November, 2023 from all 3 lectures.
