Bios and Cmos Setup Diagram

BIOS identifies and initializes computer hardware at startup and connects it to the operating system. It performs self-tests through POST and stores system configurations in CMOS. CMOS uses a battery-backed chip to save settings like boot order, date, and hardware information between restarts. POST runs diagnostic tests at startup to check hardware is working properly as part of the boot process managed by BIOS.

BIOS
BIOS identifies, initializes, configures, tests and connects computer
hardware to the OS immediately after a computer is turned on. The
combination of these steps is called the boot process. These tasks are
each carried out by BIOS' four main functions: Power-on self-test
(POST).

CMOS – an extension software of BIOS

The main purpose of CMOS in computers is to store important system
settings and configurations such as the date and time, boot order,
hardware settings, and password information. This information is
stored in a small battery-powered chip on the motherboard called the
CMOS battery.

POST stands for Power-On Self-Test. It's a set of diagnostic tests that
a computer runs every time it's powered on to make sure all of its
components are working properly.
