Fire Alarm System Limitations
While a fire alarm system may lower insurance rates, it is not a substitute for fire insurance!

An automatic fire alarm system—typically made up of Detectors that have ionizing-type sensing chambers

against telephone line failure, backup radio transmission
systems are recommended.

The most common cause of fire alarm malfunction is

inadequate maintenance. To keep the entire fire alarm
system in excellent working order, ongoing maintenance
is required per the manufacturer's recommendations.
Environments with large amounts of dust, dirt or high air
velocity require more frequent maintenance. A
maintenance agreement should be arranged through the
local manufacturer's representative. Maintenance should
be scheduled or as required by National and/or local fire
codes and should be performed by authorized
professional fire alarm installers only. Adequate written
records of all inspections should be kept.
Installation Precautions
Adherence to the following will aid in problem-free installation with long-term reliability:

1.1About This Manual

1.1.1 Notes, Cautions & Warnings

The following graphics appear in this manual to indicate a note, a caution, or

warning:

Note: Information that highlights an important part of the preceding or

subsequent text or illustration.

Cautions: Information about procedures that could cause programming

errors, runtime errors, or equipment damage.

Warnings: Indicates information about procedures that could cause

irreversible damage to the control panel, irreversible loss of programming data or
personal injury.

1.2System Overview

1.2.1Function Overview

N-VFT is an off-line programming tool with strong function and it bases on

windows. It mainly completes two functions:
z Control panel configure database to create, edit, download, comparison and
etc.
z Control panel field installation, commissioning and maintenance.

1.2.2Database of N-VFT

For the convenience of users and improving the efficiency, the database of N-
VFT directly using MS Excel data tables, and generate the default Excel
automatically when creating a new project.

1.3User Interface of N-VFT

N-VFT user interface is Windows XP style and supports Windows XP themes
function. Users of the Windows XP operating system can accord him own
preferences to configure the style of N-VFT interface.
N-VFT interface can be roughly divided into four parts, as outlined below:
z Operation type selection: Including control panel programming, installation
debugging and software upgrades. Programming is divided into CBE, CBE
logic zone, MCU, remote displayer and loops; installation debugging
including database download and virtual terminal of field installation;
Software upgrades used for software upgrade of CPU or LCM module.
z Control panel parameter configuration: This part mainly display the current
parameters of control panel, the content is different with different types of
operations.
z Parameter modify: all the configurations are modified in this area.
z Operation status / results: display current status and results of operation.

Section2: Installation
N-VFT is a new developed running on the operation of Microsoft. NET
framework application, and the use Microsoft ADO technology for database
management. Therefore, in order to running N-VFT correctly, need to install
Microsoft. NET FRAMEWORK V1.1. MDAC V2.6 or higher versions.

2.1System Requirements
N-VFT software is designed for systems running Windows 2000 Professional
SP2 or Windows XP Professional SP1 and higher systems, display resolution
should be set up to 1024 x 768, And a 9-pin RS-232C serial port.
For Windows 2000 operating system, need to install. NET FRAMEWORK and
MDAC; FOR Windows XP operating system, only need to install . NET
FRAMEWORK. Specific method of installation, see the following.

2.1.1Installation of . NET Framework V1.1

. NET Framework V1.1 installation consists of two parts: . NET Framework V1.1
and patching files.
Insert the N-VFT CD into the CD-ROM drive.
Double-click dotnetfx.exe on the N-VFT CD, and follow the screen prompts to
complete the installation.
