DSS Use Case 5 6

This document describes how the Diameter Solution Suite (DSS) can be used to interconnect Diameter and legacy SS7 networks to enable roaming between networks that have and have not deployed the Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The DSS acts as an interworking function, diameter routing agent, and diameter edge agent to translate between Diameter and SS7 protocols and route signaling to the correct legacy or EPC elements. It allows for an easy transition when roaming between networks with different generations of core networks.

Diameter Solution Suite™ Use Case

Interworking Diameter between LTE and Legacy for Inter-PLMN (Roaming)

Problem Solution
The Evolved Packet Core (EPC) uses Diameter for Diametriq, an innovator in Diameter signaling con-
