Wonderware System Platform- Part 1 Course

(formerly known as Industrial Application Server 2.1 Course)

Course Description
The Wonderware Application Server course is a 4-day, instructor-led class that is designed to provide a
fundamental understanding of Wonderware's ArchestrA® enabled software. The purpose is to provide the
knowledge necessary to develop and support applications with the Wonderware Application Server.

The course discusses key concepts to enable you to develop their project beginning with a plant model
hierarchy that matches the physical layout and processes of your actual plant. Next using a standard tank
system, you will use objects available within Application Server to replicate the functionality of field
devices.

The tank system is created and configured to store alarms and history. Templates are created to provide
the ability to 'stamp out' multiple instances of the tank system. The tank system components are then
extended through the use of scripting and by exposing various key attributes. Security is set up at the
application level and down to specific data elements.

Additionally, a visualization working model of the entire tank system is developed. A SmartSymbol of the
visual tank system is then created and configured to connect to the ArchestrA® application previously
modeled and developed in Wonderware Application Server.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Export your application and all its related objects in a format which will allow them to transport it
to your respective work locations for future reference
• Apply the ArchestrA® technology through applications applicable to your plant floor environment,
develop objects, templates and applications using the Industrial Application Server's Integrated
Development Environment (IDE)
• Troubleshoot your Wonderware Application Server applications in a standalone and networked
environment

Audience
Plant floor operators and managers, system administrators, system integrators and other individuals who
need to use the Wonderware Application Server in their manufacturing environment
