Learning Competency Interpret the meaning suggested in visual media through a focus on visual elements,
for example, line, symbols, colour, gaze, framing and social distance
Key 1. GAZE refers to where the figure in the image is looking. It can give information and
Concepts/Understandings meaning to the viewer. Gazing can often reflect emotions without speech.
to be Developed 2. FRAMING is the presentation of visual elements in an image, especially the
placement of the subject in relation to other objects.It is used to make an image
more aesthetically pleasing and keep the viewer's focus on the framed object(s).
3.SOCIAL DISTANCE is the distance between the viewer and subject; how close or
far away is the subject shown. This is based on how comfortable we generally feel
with people being close to us, in real life situations.
1. Objectives:
Knowledge: Name the elements of visual media;
Skills: Interpret the meaning suggested in visual media through visual elements (gaze,
framing, and social distance; and
Attitude: Describe your feelings upon looking at the visual media being presented.
Values: Truthfulness, honesty, respectfulness, love and unity within the family

4. Procedures:
4.1 Introductory
Activities/Preliminaries  Prayer: This will be led by the prayer leader.
(5 mins)  Greetings
 Classroom Rules: Recitation of the classroom rules will be done.
K-eep a positive mind
E-xhibit good manners and use them daily
S-tart the day prepared and ready to learn

 Classroom up-keep and contingency plan reminder


 Attendance Checking- This will be done by the student leader of the day.
 Recap- This will be done by the assigned pupils. They will give a short review
about the previous lesson/activities done yesterday. Then they will ask at least
three questions to the class to check understanding. This will be done for a
minute only.
 Spelling Drill- Post test (15 words will be given for the whole week for
students to familiarize and to look for their meaning)
1. Monday- Pre-test
2. Tuesday-supervised study
3. Wednesday- midtest
4. Thursday- supervised study
5. Friday- Post test

4.2 Activity/Strategy Stage 1: Pre- exposure (5 mins)


Brain-Based Teaching The class will be divided into five groups. Each group will be given a jigsaw puzzle
and Learning to solve. These pictures show common Filipino family traits.
Follow-up questions:
1. How would you describe your feelings after looking at the image?
2. What do you think is the subject of this image? Do you think that there is a
connection among the objects in the image?
3. In what image do you feel the most connection? What about the least? Why do
you think so?

Stage 2: Preparation (3 mins)
The class will be asked on what are the things that they want to learn from the
given lesson.
(Giving of lesson objectives will follow)

Stage 3: Initiation and acquisition (5 mins)


The class will be grouped into five (5) groups. There will be little teachers who
will roam around each group for one (1) minute to give examples of the different
elements of visual media. The group will try to discover what are the elements of visual
media.
Integration: M.I.- Lingustic, Interpersonal, spatial/visual
value: truthfulness, Inquisitiveness
Across discipline: MAPEH (ARTS)-Elements and Principle of Arts and Design

Stage 4: Elaboration (10 mins)


A. Images will be flashed through a powerpoint. The class will identify what elements
are being used (gaze, framing, social distancing)

Each group will be given five minutes to think of a scenario that they can portray using the
different elements of visual media. They are to act out their characters in their chosen scenario.
When the teacher will say “freeze”, they are to stop and the class will try to guess the elements
used in that scene.

Stage 5: Incubation and Memory Encoding (3 mins)


Based on the previous activities, the class will be given three minutes to take
down notes/journal based on their understanding of the lesson. A music will be played
for pupils to concentrate.

Stage 6: Verification and Confidence Check (5 mins)


A 13-item test will be given, covering the lesson from day 1 to day 4.
