FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS

WORKSHEETS, ACTIVITIE S & GA ME S Relationship Phrasal Verbs

C. Read the texts and answer the questions that follow.

Jan

When I was little, I used to spend a lot of time with my Auntie Ingrid. My parents
worked long hours, so she often looked after me after school, and I remember how
much I admired her outlook on life. She is such a cheerful person who always looks
at things in a positive light. Because we have spent so much time together over the
years, we got really close and now she's like a second mum to me.

Tao

Sinead and I met on a dating site a few years ago. We hit it off instantly, and it
wasn't long before we were saying how much we loved each other! We moved in
together after a few months and had plans to start a family in the near future. But
unfortunately, things didn't work out, and we went our separate ways. The other
day, she asked me if I wanted to get back together, but I said no as I didn't think it
was a good idea. I know it was for the best, but I do miss her a lot and have been
finding it difficult without her these past few weeks.

Julie

I met Anushka at university back in 2010. We ended up in the same student

accommodation and got on instantly. Unfortunately, after we graduated, she moved
abroad, and we lost contact with each other over the years. I was thrilled when she
got in touch a few months ago as I had been missing her a lot. We started talking
more regularly again, but it became clear that she just wanted to talk to me about
her problems and never asked about how I was doing. I confronted her about it which
led to a big argument. That was the last time we spoke.

1. Who fell out with a friend? .........................

2. Who looks up to an older member of the family? .........................

3. Who has recently broken up with their partner? .........................

4. Who fell for someone quickly? .........................

5. Who drifted apart from someone? .........................

6. Who felt ready to settle down in a relationship? .........................

7. Who turned down an ex-partner? .........................

8. Who gets on well with a relative? .........................

D. With a partner, come up with some tips to help Tao and Julie deal with their broken
relationships.
