And the Royal Mathematician said that the distance between them was 3,000,000 miles. 17. Explain the physical appearance of the Royal Wizard. Ans – The Lord High Chamberlain was a little, thin man with a long face. He wore a high red pointed hat covered with silver stars and a long, blue robe covered with golden owls. He was a man who grew very pale when the King told him to find out a means for getting the Moon. 19. Mention any three things which the Royal Wizard got for his King. Ans – A set of horns from Elfland, sand from the sand man and gold from the rainbow. 20. Write any three points about the Royal Mathematician. Ans – The Royal Mathematician was a short-sighted man. He always wore a skull-cap on his head while placing a pencil behind his ear. 21. What did the Royal Mathematician say about the Moon? Ans – The Royal Mathematician said that the moon was round and flat like a coin made of asbestos. It was half the size of the kingdom and was pasted on the sky. 22. What are the suggestions of the Lord High Chamberlain, the Royal Wizard and the Royal Mathematician regarding the prevention of Princess Lenore from seeing the Moon? Ans – The Lord High Chamberlain suggested to make some dark glasses for the princess. The Royal Wizard suggested to stretch some black velvet curtains on poles to cover all the palace gardens like a circus tent. And the Royal Mathematician suggested to let off fireworks in the garden every night.

1. What will make the Princess well again? Ans – The Princess will be well again if she gets the Moon. 2. According to the Lord High Chamberlain, what was the Moon made of? Ans – According to the Lord High Chamberlain, the Moon was made of copper. 3. What was the Moon made of according to the Royal Mathematician? Ans – The Moon was made of asbestos according to the Royal Mathematician. 4. What was the Moon made of according to the Princess? Ans – The Moon was made of gold according to the Princess. 5. What was the High Chamberlain's suggestion to keep the Princess from seeing the Moon? Ans – The Lord High Chamberlain's suggestion to keep the Princess from seeing the Moon was that they should make some dark glasses for her. 6. Why did the Lord High Chamberlain say that getting the Moon was out of the question? Ans – The Lord High Chamberlain said that getting the Moon was out of the question for it was 35,000 miles away and was bigger than the Princess' room. And it was made of copper. 7. Ans – The King sent for the Court Jester to make him play on his lute which might help the king to find out a means to get the Moon and make his sick daughter well again. This might also help relieve stress the king had been on as his wise men had failed to get the moon for his sick daughter. Moreover, the king sent for the Court Jester once again to consult with him about getting a means which might prevent his daughter from seeing the real Moon shining in the sky while she had held an artificial moon. 10. What was the King's problem even after the Princess had got the moon? Ans – The King's problem even after the Princess had got the moon was to hinder her from seeing the real Moon shining in the sky in the next evening while she went into the garden to play. Because he thought that she would be ill again if she saw it by then although she had got the artificial moon. 11. What was the Princess' explanation about the presence of the Moon? Ans – The Princess' explanation about the presence of the Moon was her expression of two statements about it. The first statement was that when she lost one tooth, a new tooth grew in its place. And her second statement was that when the Royal Gardener cut the flowers in the garden, other flowers came to take their place. Like that, another moon appeared when the first moon was held by her. 12. Are wise men always capable of solving difficult problems? Justify your answer with examples from the story. Ans – We may certainly say that wise men are not always capable of solving difficult problems. All the wise men of the King could not find out a means to get the Moon for the Princess. Although the Lord High Chamberlain, the Royal Wizard and the Royal Mathematician could not solve the difficulty of the King, only the Royal Jester was able to solve his difficulty. 13. Write how the Royal Jester solved both the King's problems. Ans – The Royal Jester solved both the King’s problems in a clever and amusing manner. In order to solve the Kings first problem of how to get the Moon for his daughter, he made the Royal Goldsmith make a tiny, round moon which was a little smaller than the thumb-nail of the Princess Lenore after knowing everything about the Moon from her. And in solving the King's second problem of preventing his daughter from seeing the real Moon shining in the sky, he tried to learn about her opinion by talking to her. At that time, she told him that as a new tooth grew in place of the tooth which she lost, a new Moon came in place of the moon kept by her in her golden chain.
