Rutherford Experiment Worksheet

Ernest Rutherford discovered the nucleus and protons through his gold foil experiments. His experiments bombarded gold foil with alpha particles and showed most particles passed through with little deflection, as expected, but some bounced back at sharp angles, contrary to expectations. This led Rutherford to conclude that atoms have a small, dense nucleus containing positive charge surrounded by electrons.
