Abstract

This paper focuses on my leadership abilities, the qualities and shortcomings associated

with my type of leadership, the inspirations and motivations that help me achieve the goals I set

for myself as a leader, the results of a self-assessment test, and many identity characteristics

associated with my type of leadership. It proceeds to investigate my self-improvement plan to

expand my leadership capabilities and create specific identification and behavioral highlights

that will aid me in completing any goals I set and developing into a more effective leader.

Introduction

Recognizing and comprehending oneself, as well as the qualities that will significantly

contribute to the leadership style, is critical for a leader to be successful. To begin, the notion of

leadership, the attributes of a great leader, management styles, and what distinguishes a leader

from a manager will be investigated. I begin by outlining the most important aspects and

requirements of leadership. Several analysts have explained and defined the notion of leadership

in numerous ways, but I will focus on a few of them. Leadership is an activity that motivates

members in a group to take action in order to achieve a common goal (Amanchukwu et al.,

2015). Another term linked with leadership is the influence one individual has on a group in

order to attain shared goals. According to Panda & Banik (2020), a leader may create a

consistent environment that rouses and energizes followers to achieve company goals. Given the

abundance of leadership explanations, we may argue that the concept of leadership may emerge

when there are several people in within the process. One should not lead oneself.

Leadership has taken many forms from the beginning of time. Leaders' behavioral

characteristics have affected leadership in many situations throughout history. Furthermore, it is

well acknowledged that the many types of leadership leaders utilize are dictated by their identity,

genuine time, and social context. This is supported by the fact that various professionals who

have been sharpened recently are more successful in various disciplines. In businesses with large

amounts of information, for example, a dictatorial leadership style may not operate. Furthermore,

with populations used to being ruled by an authoritarian system, predicting the efficacy of a

democratic leadership approach may be difficult. If one chooses a leadership style that can

influence more convinced employees within the industry and social system, obtaining

worthwhile and trustworthy outcomes will be more obvious.

Desirable Characteristics of a Leader

To broaden our perspective and obtain a superior understanding of a leader's potential, we

must first comprehend three critical aspects of a leader within an organizational environment.

Coach

A great leader mentors and coaches his team members and workers to help them grow.

The primary rationale for a leader's strategy is to progress the more obvious organizational

objectives as well as other medium- and short-term goals. According to Stoyanova & Iliev

(2017), an effective leader balances the goals of the organization with the goals of the

employees. In other words, a leader imparts the necessary skills to followers in order for the

organization's vision and goals to be realized.

Coordinate

Leaders must plan and arrange teams for their colleagues or staff members, set goals,

develop procedures to achieve those goals, and guide staff members through these programs.

Motivation

Motivating people is an underappreciated component of being a leader; a great leader

must convince their group members and critical individuals by inventiveness, compassion, and

interpersonal talents (Harrison, 2017). For example, the leader must be courteous and devise

effective processes to reboard a gather component who is experiencing difficulties. Leaders,

despite their bravery, never abandon their followers. Each leader exemplifies a mix of

characteristics that cannot be neatly classified into one style, yet they all work together to

motivate a group of people to achieve their common goals. Leaders must possess unique

attributes in order to guide people to the desired destination.

Leaders Versus Managers

A manager often focuses on strategy, creating, and establishing standards, but a leader is

always on the lookout for new, more effective processes to design and innovate (Noruzy et al.,

2013). The leader is always coming up with novel and innovative ways to do things. They

empower and develop creative individuals and organizations, challenge the status quo in pursuit

of extraordinary outcomes and productivity, and emphasize progress. Managers are focused on

achieving easy goals, while leaders consistently seek and investigate development. Managers are

more focused with short-term goals, while leaders always look forward and plan for change.

This implies that leadership is more concerned with exceeding expectations and attaining

the organization's goals and objectives. A leader will aid in this effort by empowering their

followers. As a result, they will contemplate growing the aforesaid institution, finding unknown

potential, incorporating suggestions from their team members into plans, and contributing to

future success. A leader should then be able to lead change within the organization, be a great

decision maker, oversee performance of the team members, create individuals and have a client

center, build connections, and have a strong intuition for change and quality controls, among

other notable qualities.

Understanding the distinctions between a leader and a manager is essential, but

understanding what attributes make a great leader is critical. It is possible to improve one's

leadership talents via experience-based training and to make a plan to provide a lucrative leader.

According to Dimitrov (2015), a competent leader demonstrates leadership abilities and

encourages everyone to work together to achieve the organizational goal.

Examining my Leadership Capabilities

Strengths and Weaknesses

When I examined my self-assessment score as a leader, I realized that my strengths lie in

the areas of creativity and innovation, diplomacy, futuristic thinking, negotiation and being a

self-starter. On the other hand, I have weakest scores in areas such as teamwork, understanding

others, interpersonal skills, taking personal responsibility, resilience, and people advocacy.

My strengths will benefit the company for which I will work. Creativity and innovation

are at the center of the organizational success. External elements without the leader's control

have a continual influence on organizations. As such, an organization must always come up with

creative and innovative ways of being competitive in the market. Organizations are changing as a

result of globalization and rapid developments in cutting-edge digital technology. Missing out on

such technological innovation and creativity might damage the company's growth, leading to

poor performance. As such my strength will be useful to the company.

Because many businesses employ change leadership methods to boost the success of

ideas, as a change leader, I may collaborate with expanding bosses who permit underutilized

capacities to guarantee that workers can effectively exploit the underutilized capabilities. My

strength in diplomacy will be critical in this area. Excellent diplomatic leadership enables a

company to adapt to a changing human resource environment. It enables the organization to

adapt changes to the company's conventional operating processes, continue despite constraints

imposed by governments and other legal requirements, and monitor and address concerns. My

experience here will also help me to connect with people who have been affected by a change

movement, which is an important part of managing change in an organization. Workers will

eventually be included into the change plan. As a result, early negotiation and agreement on the

proposed arrangement are crucial to establishing the stage for its success. This will also help to

reduce resistance to an untested movement.

Because negotiation is such a fundamental skill for effective leadership, it was another

area of my skill test where I excelled. Several studies have been conducted to discover how

negotiation and leadership are related. According to Dimitrov (2015), a successful leader must

effectively negotiate with their followers in order to persuade them of their beliefs. A leader must

negotiate effectively with others in order to gain a better understanding of the actions to be taken

to achieve organizational goals. Some believe that an effective leader should be able to induce or

persuade others to follow a specific course of action.

Leaders must be able to negotiate effectively with their audiences. As a great negotiator, I

can build a bond with my supporters. According to Amanchukwu et al. (2015), the time it takes a

group to finish work without slogging is used to survey viable leadership, and amazing

negotiation abilities are essential. It connects individuals to accomplish desired objectives by

sketching out destinations and obligations in detail.

I will also be able to advance believe with my group members. A common shared sense

of purpose, or "conviction," holds it together, and as a great leader, I will ensure that my gather

individuals participate in various exercises to construct this belief. I will completely clarify the

errands and responsibilities of each gather part ahead of time, eliminating misunderstanding and

advancing believe.

My self-leadership testing scores reflect my ability to control my emotions and accept

responsibility for my choices, demonstrating that I am more responsible and cautious of my

leadership plan. These abilities are critical for entrepreneurs because they enable them to keep a

clear separation between their personal and professional lives, develop successful information-

sharing strategies with their partners in order to achieve the company's shared goals, and create a

management plan. However, I am powerless in direct extraversion and readiness to undertake

unused things, so I had a poor score in people advocacy.

My significant shortcomings in my leadership abilities are also resilience, interpersonal

skills and taking personal responsibility. I take time to understand other people, as such, I don’t

perform well in team activities, hence my poor score in team work. These are weaknesses that I

must overcome for me to be very effective in the organization that I work for.

Reflection on Previous Encounters

I have consistently accepted that my decision-making handle is the same regardless of my

circumstances at work. Regardless of my conviction that I was a competent decision-maker,

examining my leadership abilities revealed that I had powerless decision-making abilities, and I

also realized that I am incompetent at making judgments.

One of my limitations is the gradualness of my decision-making procedure. Consider

decision-making requires a significant amount of effort. Not long after receiving my bachelor's

degree, I was permitted to end up the showcasing administrator at the company where I worked,

but this quality worked against me. Since numerous clients have expressed dissatisfaction with a

focusing on what would create my identity qualities and how to utilize the data obtained to be a

proficiently utilizing people while making a difference for improvement in their fundamental

shortcomings. As a leader, I may have to be make strides to eliminate my shortcomings, and

leverage on my strengths for the organizational success.
