Introduction
Satellite communication is undoubtedly ingrained into many facets of our global society.
It provides an ability to relay voice communications of family members across the globe
or transmit data from field locations to headquarters located across oceans. It has
fundamentally changed how we communicate and share data with each other over long
distances.
Electronic communications have grown exponentially over the last one hundred
years with a major push in the last few decades. The biggest challenge for long
distance communications specifically on a global scale comes in two parts, 1. the
curvature of the earth adds complexity to over the horizon communications, and 2. due
to the sheer size of the earth, the ability to provide complete global coverage. The
longest a transmission could be made in the late 1800s was from Chicago to New
York, mainly due to the loss of signal as it traveled over the long network of cables.

Which intake outline did you choose and why?
For the intake I decided to go with the Career in Culture intake outline as it provided
questions that I thought would draw more useful information from the participant I
decided to do the intake with. While it could have been a biased opinion as I did the
interview with my partner, the Career in Culture intake model provided with questions
that allowed for the exploration of the family influences and cultural background that is a
