Rabbit Novella Carpenter
In Part 2 (Rabbit) Novella Carpenter learns just how precious food really is. Nico
(Carpenter s friend whom lived in a cabin in the woods) asked Carpenter to bunny sit ,
after her original sitter flaked out. The idea of the bunnies was like a new drug at a
party to Novella, exciting and thrilling. Overwhelmed with the thought of learning to
care for rabbits, Carpenter than hears Nico say, You know that whatever you breed, you
can eat, too, right? (104). While driving home with the bunnies, Carpenter seemed less
enthusiastic about breeding and eating them. Looking on the brighter side, Carpenter
realized the bunnies would be easier to care for than that of turkeys. One of the things
that makes food so precious is, all the work that goes into... Show more content on

In other words, she allowed herself to only eat natural local foods. This plan for self
improvement faced many difficulties as Carpenter under went bad breath, America s
version of starvation, and another loss of birds due to dogs. Before starting this diet,
Carpenter ate everything in sight. Enjoying all the foods she knew she wouldn t eat in a
long time. By the end of the diet, Carpenter would kill for a bag of chips. The diet
showed Carpenter how hard it can be to grow all of your food. With every rabbit she ate
and every crop that failed, Carpenter realized she would have less food to eat. Like
Gollum s ring, Carpenter cared for her garden with importance. The biggest hurdle
with her diet was carbs. Carpenter had potatoes, but due to pest the plant failed to
produce. She improvised by turning dried decorative corn into cornmeal. This shows
the desperate creativity people can have when starving. Starvation also makes people
preform bold tasks. An example of Carpenter s bold behavior came when she reached
over a neighbor s fence to sell bees. The diet adventure was not always bad. Carpenter
enjoyed making and bottling her own wine, which she stomped with her own feet. The
bad times weren t always about eating. Her relationship with Bill was starting to suffer.

American Technological Advancements
The United States has utilized innovations and technological advancements to solidify
its position as a global superpower. One of the greatest accomplishments the United
States can claim is to have put a man on the moon in 1969. In describing the impact of
the moon landing, historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. notes, The one thing for which
this century will be remembered 500 years from now was: This was the century when
we began the exploration of space (Launius, 2006). In the 47 years since the moon
landing, no other nation has been able to land on the moon marking this as a lasting
legacy to American perseverance in the exploration of space. The completion of the
Panama Canal in 1914 also showcased American resolve and engineering superiority.
Providing maritime access between the Atlantic and the Pacific, the Canal stands today
as one of seven wonders of the modern world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the progression of the machine gun to the development of the atomic bomb and
further still to today and stealth aircraft technology, the United States has consistently
pushed the envelope on innovation in order to say one step ahead as a military
superpower. With this being an online course, one would be remiss to not note the great
American accomplishment of creating a computer communication network through the
collaboration between the Department of Defense, engineers and scientists during the
Cold War.

The flare for thinking outside of the box in the United States could easily be traced back
to the founding of the nation. The Founding Fathers were nation building innovators as
they wrote the Constitution. American technological innovations have opened the doors
to discovery, which has allowed the United States to continue to be a global
Team Member Reflection
When working as a team, the lead interpreter s process is buoyed by the additional
information fed by the second, and guided to a more accurate and conclusive
interpretation. It actively supports the overall performance (Kinsella, 1997, p. 115). My
colleague provided me with strong, helpful support offering me enhancing feeds,
corrections, and confirmations, that all aided in the improvement of my interpretation.
While some of how she gave me assistance, and some of how I requested information
differed from our pre assignment discussion, as whole, I feel we worked together
effectively, and this was a good experience to dissect how we functioned as a team.
We began our pre assignment dialogue mutually agreeing on our common challenges,

However, one recommendation I would make is at some instances she would, instead
of offering me quick lexical level feeds, my colleague would explain concepts. I
understand she perhaps did this because we have been taught that we cannot interpret
what we do not understand; however, at times quicker feeds can be more beneficial so
as not to pause the interpretation for long periods of time. A quick feed can
sometimes make the interpretation appear more seamless, rather than having to make
the Deaf and hearing consumers wait while we discuss a thought or message. An
example of this can be seen when we were discussing the use of both ASL and English
in the George Brown program (Farley Otterbein, 2017, 00:29:59 00:30:15). Also, at
some instances, my colleague was not sure if either my interpretation was correct or if
what she had understood was correct, and we both hesitated before ultimately having
to ask for repetition. Again, this goes back to providing a feed as quickly as possible
so as not to pause the interpretation for too long. I understand when both I and my
colleague are unclear about what we saw, that is natural, but rather than pondering
whether we are right or not, it might be more helpful to quickly respond with a firm I
missed that or I am not sure so the interpreter can quickly just ask for repetition. I have
learned from being the support
