39. Derive the expression for capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor with a dielectric medium
between the plates.
40. Obtain the bridge balanced condition of Wheatstone’s bridge network by applying
Kirchhoff’s rules.
41. Two straight parallel conductor are placed at certain distance in free space. The direction
of current in both the conductors is same. Find the magnitude and direction of the force
between them. Hence define ampere.
42. (a) What is polarization of light?
(b) What is plane polarized light? Write the symbolic representation of PPL
(c) Give any three applications of polaroid’s
43. (a) Write the Einstein’s photoelectric equation and explain the terms.
(b) Define the terms: (1) Threshold frequency, (2) Threshold wavelength and
(3) Stopping potential
44. (i) What is meant by doping? (ii) Define depletion region?
(iii) What is junction potential in p-n junction?
(iv) Distinguish between p-type and n-type semiconductor.

VI. Answer any TWO of the following questions. Each carries 5 Marks 2×5M= 10M

45. ABCD is a square of side 2 m charges of 2 nC, 4 nC and 5 n C placed at the corners A, B,
C and D respectively. Calculate the resultant electric intensity at the centre of the square
where the 2 diagonals meet?
46. A wire having length 2.0 diameter 1.0 mm and resistivity 1.963 108  m is connected in

series with a battery of emf 3V and internal resistance 1 . Calculate the resistance of the
wire and current in the circuit.
47. An inductor and a bulb are connected in series to an AC source of 220 V, 50 Hz. A current

of 11A flows in the circuit and phase angle between voltage and currents is radians.

48. An object of 3cm is placed 14cm in front of a concave lens of focal length 21 cm. Find the
position, Nature and size of the image formed.
