Irregular Plural Nouns


Some plural forms of nouns do not end in -s or -es. To form these
irregular plurals, you may have to change the spelling of the word.
Study the irregular plural nouns underlined below.

calf/calves leaf/leaves ox/oxen tooth/teeth


child/children life/lives person/people wife/wives
foot/feet loaf/loaves scarf/scarves wolf/wolves
goose/geese man/men self/selves woman/women
hoof/hooves mouse/mice shelf/shelves

Some nouns have the same form for both singular and plural.

deer/deer moose/moose sheep/sheep trout/trout

A Write the irregular plural noun in each sentence.


1. The children walked down to the creek.
