PROJECT

MY MONOLOGUE

WHAT?
Write an original monologue, entirely created by you, starting from the quote
below.

“We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens
in its own time.”
Denis Waitley.

HOW?
When delivering the monologue, you are encouraged to use any means of
presentation (soundtrack, props, costumes, video projections, posters, etc.)
that you consider necessary for the expressive transmission of your message,
avoiding the exclusive use of public discourse.

WHEN?
You are expected to deliver the monologue no later than 7th February.
You will have 3-5 minutes to deliver your monologue.

Dictionary definitions of the word monologue:
• a long speech by one person:
• a dramatic story, especially in verse, told or performed by one person
• a long speech in a play, film, etc. spoken by one actor, especially when
alone
MARK
• You will be awarded a mark based on the quality of your monologue.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

1. Creativity/originality
• How creative was the student's monologue?
• Were his original ideas an expression of his own personality?
• Have novel and expressive elements been brought both in the content
and in the form of presentation?
2. Relevance and consistency
• How close was the connection between monologue and theme?
• How easy/difficult was it to establish this connection?
• Did the student organize his monologue in a coherent way?
• Are the costumes and props appropriate to the text/message?
3. Style
• Eye contact with the audience, stage presence, voice control and clarity,
intonation, body language, stage movement
4. Level of English usage
• How correctly did the student use English?
• Were various grammar and vocabulary structures used?
5. General impression
• How much did you like it?
The power of impression and persuasion of the student.
The overall quality of the message.
