This course deals with data analysis and statistical methodology which are basically
used in business and economics. Major topics include: Statistical inference of multivariate
data: confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, linear simple regression models; linear logistic
regression; analysis of variance; introduction to time series; and nonparametric methods.

1. Prerequisites: SBE203 or equivalent

Statistics for Business and Economics by D.R. Anderson, D.J. Sweeney and T.A. Williams, 13th
edition, South – Western, Cengage Learning, 2017.

5. Teaching Methods

Traditional teaching methods will be used such as powerpoint + blackboard. Students


will be assigned homework assignments and quizzes regularly to get better
understanding about covered topics. A final project would be assigned.
6. Assessment
- Grading breakdown
o Class participation & HW: 20%
o Final Project: 20%
o Mid-term exam: 25%
o Final exam: 35%
- Exams
Midterm Exam: There will be one midterm exam during class, which is tentatively
scheduled as follows.

Final exam: There will be a final exam given at the end of the term. All students must
take the final exam at the time scheduled by the university.
