Proposal Presentation Guidelines

PROPOSAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

During the proposal presentation the student is expected to prepare power point slides to be projected
before the panel of assessors which should include at least one slide and a maximum of two slides per
the following subtitles

Title slide: capturing the topic/title under study, name of student and registration no. supervisor

Section 1: INTRODUCTION

Background to the study slide: briefly lead of the introduction and background the study

Problem statement slide: problem should be briefly defined in a continuous prose.

Objectives slide: should include the general objective and the specific objectives: which is a summary of
the activities to be undertaken to realize the system/results

Scope of the study slide: should highlight the boundary of the study/project/system

Significance/importance/justification of the study slide: outline the benefits of the systems and the
beneficiaries

SECTION 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

You can have two to 3 slides here briefly describing the studies reviewed outlining the advantages,
disadvantages of each and gap identified. Include a list of references in one slide

SECTION 3: METHODOLOGY

In this section you should prepare a slide or two for

a) Research methodology which should include: the research design, the population, the sample
and sampling techniques to be used the data that was needed, and the tools that were used to
collect the data and the justification of each.

b) The design methodology: this should include a description of the phases of the software
development process that was used and its justification (which should not include the waterfall
model). Remember to include the process graphical notation. Such a graphical notation should
be given a “Fig No” according to the section in which t is placed.

Sections 4: Project Resources and Budget

In this section you should prepare a list of all the resources available (that you don’t need to buy) as well
as a table of items that you will need to buy for successful project execution. The format of the table
should be as follows

NB all table should be given a “Table No.” according to the section in which it is place

SECTION 5: PROJECT SCHEDULE

In this section you should prepare a table depicting the schedule following the format shown below

NB: You should also capture the information in the schedule in a gantt chart which should also be
appropriately labeled

Further Guidelines

You should prepared a slide for the references; References should be in APA (be familiar with it) format.

You should be prepared to answer question during or after your presentation

You should be formally dressed or at the minimum wear business casual attire. Shorts, minis, t-shits,
tights, jeans, unbecoming hair dos/cuts and caps/hats are not allowed.
