Virtual Data Backup and Restore Tool

Abstract

In our busy life and digitalized society data storing and maintenance is a big issue. Every
day we come across many data that are important for our work and daily life. Some data are
vulnerable to the time, which needs to be changed and saved every day. And such data needs a
large storage space and hardware facility which can’t be afforded by every user. To solve this
problem we have developed this Virtual Data Backup and Restore Tool. Here user can upload all
the data from the system to the server and restore all the data like contacts, images, videos, mails,
etc.

The user needs to enable the application to start back up. If we want to stop backing up
the user should have an option disable the application. The data of a particular system will be
accessed by authenticated person alone, by ensuring their integrity via their Mail id and
Password. In this way unauthorized users can’t access the information.

Voluminous amount of data can be stored in the server and the particular data in need can
be retrieved from the server on demand. Because of this process the user doesn’t need a large
storage space and external storage peripherals. And also don’t need a large data cables to transfer
the data to the storage.

Data can be easily accessed with the restore tool with the secure media. This application
stores different kind of data files like contacts, images, documents, videos etc,. Because of the
password authentication method the data is more secured in the server compared to storing in the
local system.
EXISTING SYSTEM

In the existing system we use the local hardware for the backup purpose, which needs
high end hardware facilities to do the backup. And for the rising purpose external dives and hard
disc are used which will increase the cost of operation. We would also need external cables for
connecting to the external storage devices.

PROPOSED SYSTEM

Proposed systems do this backup process using the server system. This server system
creates an imaginary storage space where the user can store his files and also restore it upon
request. This allows the user to minimize the hardware requirements for the backup process. It
only need a basic client system where we can store all the data we want by connecting to the
server system on demand.

It also minimizes the system power and the space wasted for the backup process and also
decreases the access time of the file by accessing the server through direct connections and a
secure transmission. This process also ensures the integrity and the authenticity of the data stored
in the server system. We use a registered account with user name and password for the secure
transmission between the client and server.
