Gaudeamus igitur | So let us rejoice

This traditional academic song is mainly performed at university and high-school

graduation ceremonies. It is a happy composition that evokes university life.

César Alejandro Carrillo (b. 1957)

Venezuelan composer, arranger and choral conductor. He studied Composition with

Modesta Bor. He graduated from the National Youth Orchestra Conservatory as
Choir Director (1987) and got a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Conduction from
the University Institute of Musical Studies, with a Cum Laude distinction (1997).

He has performed concerts in Europe, Asia and America. He has received numerous
recognitions and has been awarded several prizes in choral competitions; he has
also participated as a jury, workshop leader and speaker at various local venues
and internationally. His work as a composer has been awarded in more than
20 opportunities, and he is one of the most performed composers and arrangers
of choral music in Venezuela. Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Earthsongs and Gentry
Music publish his music in the United States, and Ediciones GCC in Argentina.
He is the author of the book Música Sacra - Guía de textos latinos traducidos
al español (lulu.com, 2008). He was the conductor of the Orfeón Universitario
of the Central University of Venezuela, which was proclaimed “Artistic Heritage
of the Nation” [1999-2012]. Currently, he is the conductor of Cantarte.
