a. She is very kind (Ella es muy amable)


b. The beach is full (La playa está llena)
c. I am very organised (Yo soy muy organizado)
d. I don’t like loud noises, therefore I am very quiet (No me
gustan los ruidos, así que soy más callado)
e. He is looking for a job (Él está buscando un trabajo)
f. We are forming a band (Nosotros estamos formando una
banda)
g. You are very good at sports (Tú eres muy bueno en los
deportes)

2. Change these sentences into negatives, then into questions

a. I am a housekeeper (Yo soy amo de casa) = I am not a


housekeeper = Am I a housekeeper?
b. You are excellent at chess (Eres excelente en el ajedrez) =
You aren’t excellent at chess = Are you excellent at chess?
c. We are forming a band (Estamos formando una banda) =
We aren’t forming a band = Are we forming a band?
d. They are coming to the party (Ellos vienen a la fiesta) = They
aren’t coming to the party = Are they coming to the party?
e. I do want to stay in touch (Quiero seguir en contacto contigo)
= I don’t want to stay in touch = Do I want to stay in touch?
f. She is an attorney (Ella es una abogada) = She isn’t an
attorney = Is she an attorney?
g. He is very practical (Él es muy práctico) = He isn’t very
practical = Is he very practical?

3. Complete with the right preposition of time

a. My brother has a new job. He works at the evening (Mi


hermano tiene un nuevo trabajo, él trabaja por la tarde)
b. We’re having a picnic on Saturday afternoon (Vamos a hacer
un picnic el sábado por la tarde)
c. I can finish my homework in an hour (Puedo terminar mis
deberes en una hora)
d. The meeting is at 2:00 (La reunión es a las 2)
e. Tom’s birthday is next week, on January 14th (El
cumpleaños de Tom es la semana que viene, el 14 de
enero)
f. My grandfather was born in the 1950s (Mi abuelo nació en
los 50)
g. Are there any holidays in August? (¿Hay vacaciones en
agosto?)
h. What time do you go to bed at night? (¿A qué hora te
acuestas por la noche?)
i. We’re leaving the house in a minute (Vamos a irnos de casa
en un minuto)

Regular verbs (past simple)

1. Para los verbos regulares, el past simple y el past participle se


forman añadiendo -ed al final del verbo.
Ex:
- jump = jumped (saltar)
- paint = painted (pintar)
- clean = cleaned (limpiar)
- wait = waited (esperar)
- help = helped (ayudar)
- play = played (jugar)
2. Para los verbos de una sola sílaba que acaban en consonante-
vocal-consonante, se duplica la última consonante y se añade -ed
Ex:
- chat = chatted (hablar)
- stop = stopped (parar)
- beg = begged (suplicar)
3. En los verbos acabados en -e solo añadimos -d al final
Ex:
- arrive = arrived (llegar)
- love = loved (amar)
4. En caso de que el verbo termine en -y, esta se sustituye por -i y se
añade -ed
Ex:
- cry = cried (llorar)
- fry = fried (freír)
- study = studied (estudiar)
- apply = applied (aplicar)
5. Si el verbo termina en -y precedido por una vocal solo se añade -ed
Ex:
- enjoy = enjoyed (disfrutar)
- employ = employed (emplear)
- destroy = destroyed (destruir)

simple

a. We are devastated by the news (Estamos devastados por


las noticias)
b. Your credit card is being denied (Tú tarjeta de crédito está
siendo rechazada)
c. He cried all morning (Él lloró toda la mañana)
d. They stayed in a hotel during the weekend (Ellos se
quedaron en el hotel todo el fin de semana)
e. I missed my flight (Perdí mi vuelo)
f. She played soccer in high school (Ella juega a fútbol en la
escuela)
g. They studied so hard for their tests (Ellos estudiaron muy
duro para sus exámenes)
h. I walked for one hour this morning (Caminé durante una hora
esta mañana)
i. He danced when we went to school together (Él bailaba
cuando íbamos juntos al instituto)
j. I helped my cousin with his homework (Yo ayudo a mi primo
con sus deberes)
k. We danced the entire night (Bailamos toda la noche)
l. The bar closed at midnight (El bar cerró a medianoche)

You aren’t tall, but he is short
d. They were painting yesterday (Ellos estaban pintando ayer)
= They were not (weren’t) painting yesterday
e. It will be snowing tomorrow (Mañana estará nevando) =
It will not (won’t) be snowing tomorrow
f. They will eat with us tonight (Ellos cenarán con nosotros esta
noche) = They won’t eat with us tonight
g. She was a dancer years ago (Ella era una bailarina hace
años) = She was not (wasn’t) a dancer years ago
h. They are training to become a doctor (Ellos están estudiando
para ser doctores) = They aren’t training to become a doctor
i. If he keeps studying he will become a teacher (Si él sigue
estudiando, se convertirá en profesor) =If he doesn’t keep
studying he won’t become a doctor

affirmative or negative sentences

que le dejé?) Yes, she brought me the book I lent her
e. Will he attend the wedding next month? (¿Va a ir a la boda el

f. Did I get invited to the party? (¿He sido invitado a la fiesta?)

g. Is it cold where you live? (¿Hace frío donde vives?) No, it
