Computer networking allows devices to connect and share resources. It involves introducing the basics of networking including the types of networks. The document discusses personal area networks (PANs) that connect nearby devices like smartphones and laptops. Local area networks (LANs) connect devices within a limited distance using various protocols. Metropolitan area networks (MANs) connect buildings in a city like a digital bridge. Wide area networks (WANs) connect computers and devices over long distances, making the internet work across cities. Hello everyone

today we're diving into the world of computer networking. Have you ever wondered how
your devices talk to each other or share information? Well, that's what computer networking
is all about. So, let's explore the basics of this subject.

We will start with an introduction to computer networking, then we will take a look at the
types of network, his components and protocols, and finally the conclusion

So what is computer networking? A computer network is a connection between two or

more network devices, like computers, routers, and switches, to share network resources. The
establishment of a computer network depends on the requirements of the communication
channel. Computer Networks are often differentiated based on the connection mode, like
wired or wireless and They are categorized into different types

Let’s look into each of the network types in detail

The Personnal area network is like a digital bubble that surrounds you and your
personal devices. It includes things like your smartphone, laptop, and smartwatch.
They connect to each other wirelessly, allowing you to easily share files, use wireless
headphones, or control smart devices. So, your PAN is like a tiny network that keeps
your gadgets talking to each other when they're close by!

The Local Area Network (LAN) is designed to connect multiple network devices and systems
within a limited geographical distance. The devices are connected using multiple protocols for
properly exchanging data and services. The data transmit speed in the LAN network is
relatively higher than the other network types, MAN and WAN but it needs constant
administration of experienced engineers for functioning.

A Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) is like a digital bridge that connects

neighborhoods or buildings in a city. It's larger than a local network but not as vast as
the wide network . So, when businesses, schools, or offices in a city need to link up
their computers and share information quickly, they use a MAN. It's like a fast lane for
data within a city limits! For example transportation systems: metropolitan areas
might employ MANs to manage transportation systems, including traffic lights,
surveillance cameras, etc.
A Wide Area Network (WAN) is like a giant digital highway that connects computers
and devices over long distances. It's what makes the internet work! So, when you
send emails, stream videos, or browse websites from one city to another, you're using
a WAN. It's like a big, wide road that lets information travel between different places,
making the world a more connected and accessible space!

Network security involves implementing measures to protect computer networks

from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, and data breaches. This includes using
firewalls, encrypting data, detecting and preventing intrusions, authenticating users,
regularly updating software, and educating employees about security best practices.
The goal is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data on the
network.
