LDKS Story in English
LDKS is a Leadership Student Orientation event in my school at BPK Penabur Junior High School.
On Friday we were going to Wisma El Shaddai Guest House by public transportation car, we call it
angkot. The travel time to arrive to the place is about an hour. After we were arrived, we had to wait
for a few minutes for the other angkot because our angkot was the first to be arrived.
We were all together in a gazebo to take rest because some of the students felt sick while on the
way in the trip. We also waited in the gazebo because we needed to wait for our guesses from
another school to be arrived. They were from sukabumi. After all the students and our guesses were
arrived, we all together came to a small hall.
We stayed in the hall to listen to our speaker for the first session from one o’clock to one thirty. The
topic of our first session was about “Realize the power of enthusiasm”. The speaker is from Dale
Carnegie Team. In this session we learned about communication and how to manage while working
together with other people. It was really useful for me.
After the first session was finished, we were given time to move our bags to our rooms and we also
could take a break in the cafeteria. The most favourite meal for me in El Shaddai is the coffee. It was
really tasty. We got a break time for 40 minutes then we went to another hall that was bigger than
the first one.
After all, it was time to start our second session. The topic was “Christian Leadership” and the
speaker’s name was Dr. Christian Fredy Naa. In this session we learned about the differences of
Islamic and Christian’s Leadership technique and we also did a fun game during this session to get to
know each other between the two different schools, we made two groups with other schools, so we
could know each other and had a great time. We got a challenge to make a tower from twenty
pieces of spaghettis and we had to put a marshmallow on the top of the spaghetti tower. If we didn’t
want to get failed, we had to take care of the tower. My team was succeeded to make the tallest
tower from all the teams and broke the record of it. My team was called to come in front of the
people for explaining the process of building the spaghetti tower and how we worked together. We
told to the audiences that the tools were twenty pieces of spaghettis, a tiny rope, a paper tape, a
pair of scissors and a marshmallow.
After our session was done, the teacher gave us some time for taking a break. It was around one and
a half to two hours. We ate dinner and also got shower, we had got forty minutes to do those
activities and we had to be on time because we had to come to the big hall again for the last meeting
before we slept.
The last meeting was about getting to know our Student Organisation (OSIS) programme for each
part from one to ten, so in OSIS we had ten different parts and those parts had ten units. The
members for each unit were around six students and had different programmes. Every student got a
responsibility to be prepared of a log book, some notes (Notulen) and make planning programme for
tomorrow meeting.
Before we went to sleep all the units hadn’t done to finish the planning programme and the report
documentation of our had done programmes.
We met again in the big hall to submit our task but we dismissed it, meanwhile our task hadn’t
finished yet. At that time our unit didn’t attend the briefing meeting, so we got mad by the leader
and our coach. I felt so embarrassed because of that happened in front of a lot of people and
especially someone that I like. Later after one of my roommates sent a voice note to our leader to
apologise and give support on her.
At that night, me and my roommate couldn’t sleep because the weather was so hot and we drank
too much coffee, so we talked about k-drama until late of the night. We had plans to wake up at
05.30 AM to have breakfast and get ready for the next day activities. We were set up the alarm at 4
o’clock and surprisingly we did it, all of my friends woke up at that time together and we had shower
in very early in the morning. We had to put on our T-Shirt and brought a bucket because we would
like to get some water activities.
We also had to travel around El Shaddai and tried to found six check points (post places). In each
check points we had to answer some questions regarding the knowledge that we had got from last
days workshop sessions. We had a great time by working together as a team to solve the problems.
The activities were fun and of course made us dirty and wet, so we had to get shower again before
we prepared to go home.
We had to pack and tidy our stuff by ourselves and made sure we didn’t miss anything. After that we
had to leave our room and back to the main hall to get our last meeting, it was called “rapat pleno”.
The meeting was like the usual meeting that we could explain about our programmes to do for the
next term in front of all the students of SMPK 1 only because the other school from Sukabumi had
other programmes also. After we finished explaining our programmes, we prayed and listened for
the last instruction from our teachers then we went to our public transportation car for going home.
While we were on the way to back home, we had got very bad traffic jam but at the end we got
home safely.
