Activity 3.9
“The Science of Colors”
Materials:
 3 similar kinds of flashlight (same size and brightness)
 Colored pen (red, green and blue)
 Ball (slightly bigger than the diameter of the flashlight head)
 Scotch tapeec
 Scissors
 Triangular Prism

Procedures:
1. Wrap your flashlight head with scotch tape.
2. Color scotch tape over the head of your flashlight using your color pen, so that you have one red, one
green, and one blue light.
3. Attach the flashlight side by side into the bond paper.
4. Attach the ball across the flashlight.
Triangular Prism
1. Use the dark card to create a slit over a sheet of white card. Place the card so sunlight shines through
giving a thin beam of light.
2. Place the prism over the light and rotate it until you can see the light split into the spectrum of colors.
