He was just a couple of years older than me, and he said, 'Oh, I feel sorry for you and in your
profession because all your patients died' he goes. That sounds good. And so I took his job, so I was
an orderly. So I stayed in the country for a couple of weeks and I met all the key players. With 30
years of trading experience and trying all traditional methods, he has distilled technical analysis

just a month ago. So during the pandemic, we really boomed and it actually gave our partners, our

I ended up back working at Northwestern, which is all pulling it together. We had a project called C-
10 Center for Innovative Technologies for HIV AIDS at Northwestern and Sally McFall up at
McCormick and Matt Glucksburg and me and Chad Achenbach down here. Broadway, Pearland,

been working with because most of my programs are all in sub-Saharan Africa. The school had its
own little like hospital, and I was just like, so impressed with, you know, how everything worked
systematically. They've pushed out over a billion dollars in development with over 100 companies,
including one, a spinoff from Northwestern called Minute Molecular. Before Robert Murphy took
the helm, former high school assistant principal Frank Kowalski served as interim principal from
January through June 2016. Murphy has written more than 100 articles for the layman on free-market
economics and is the author of numerous books, including Choice: Cooperation, Enterprise, and
Human Action (Independent Institute, 2015), Lessons for the Young Economist (Mises Institute,
2010), and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism (Regnery, 2007). Megan is a third year
undergraduate student studying global health and psychology on the pre-med track and today is
turning the tables, and she's going to be interviewing me. That's really something that wouldn't have
come together without the institute because we'd been trying for a long time as a center, but we
needed more breadth and we needed more funding, and now we have it. It's a very important center
that really coordinates most of the global activities that are going on, and they partner with many of
the other bigger institutes that has been really critical. They only lived maybe one or two blocks from
me, so it was a very close walk back and forth to their house, and I helped her take care of him.

Robert and Sarah O’Brien. He is the author of hundreds of articles and several books on economic

Economist (Mises Institute 2010). Then I went on the staff and I did a part time-ish infectious
disease fellowship for three years. The Masters are one to two years, but we've been doing it now
since 2008, so we have a whole group of people that we've trained over there. And then she hired me
to help her take care of her husband, who had very severe Parkinson's disease. After teaching at
Hillsdale College for three years, he moved to the financial sector to work as an analyst for Arthur

So I finished that in 1984, and that's where I met John Phair, Doctor Phair. We were studying the

started one of Africa's first big HIV treatment programs 10000 adults and 5000 children. Although it
was a good movie, it totally misconstrues Nash’s doctoral dissertation and how it fit into the pre-
existing literature. You have to have a central lab with all these technicians and highly trained people
to run those machines. People got it. And then we had our first heterosexual transmission to women
who were primarily the wives of hemophiliacs or drug addicts or bisexual men. This patient would be
the first of thousands of AIDS patients Murphy would encounter for the next 30 years. They wrote

tests, we have a big two big programs with the biomedical engineering department and McCormick at
the Center for Innovation and Global Health Technologies. There was a doctor, a civilian doctor
working for the military there named Ernest Ekong, and he got a a European Commission grant to
come to France to learn how to take care of patients with HIV. I had never really thought of it
before, but it was enough that I said, Hey, I think this is what I want to do. Congress asked the NIH
to pivot whatever they could to focus on COVID. He has also given numerous radio interviews and
public lectures on economic topics. I joined a collaboration with a group of Europeans, French,
British, German and Spanish, and we started like an informal network that studied many of these
new combinations of drugs, so I got involved with them. I had never really thought of medicine
before, but I really enjoyed it. I was just lucky. I was just lucky. I had a a great mentor. Bob is
survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Rose Murphy; son, Chris Murphy and wife, Janie; daughters,
Valarie and Sarah Murphy; brothers, Charles and Michael O’Brien; sisters, Patricia Gereg and Sheila
Fisher; and a host of other family and friends. We pivoted to COVID, and the COVID pivot was

September 2012, when it was tied for sixth with a 4.0 share and weekly cume of 1,442,700. So I

Rose enjoyed going on cruises, traveling on vacations and having a wonderful time together. He had
been scheduled to return from medical leave last month. “It’s a medical concern and (I’m) working
with the district right now to sort that all out,” Murphy said. Bob loved to spend time with family,
friends,attending the sports’ games of his grandchildren doting over his two young great
grandchildren and rooting on his beloved NY Giants. I ended up going to Loyola, so I ended up
back in Illinois at Loyola University, and that was a three year school. They had much more,
especially the French had much more contact in sub-Saharan Africa, much more involvement there.
After teaching for three years at Hillsdale College, Bob left academia for the financial sector, where
he worked on portfolio management and economic research at Laffer Associates. With 30 years of
trading experience and trying all traditional methods, he has distilled technical analysis down to a

three or two plus laboratories there. And it turns out it's actually not very contagious. The hospital
has been supportive and the university has been very supportive. I was the country director for
Nigeria because I had at least been there before I had met all the players. I never had any sons, so I
have these two African godchildren. And so there was a congressional investigation, basically said
the Peace Corps is not taking care of these people well enough, not warning them about how HIV is
transmitted and they're not getting any advice, preventive advice or policies or anything like that.
They were mostly nationals from a variety of countries. He is motivated to invest in the lives of
students who aspire to realize their full leadership potential. The program is provided at no cost to the
veterans. Bob was one of four children of the late John and Isabel Murphy of East Rutherford NJ.
But today you're going to find out a little bit more about me and my career in global health with help
from Northwestern University, student Megan Gauger. So I stayed in the country for a couple of
weeks and I met all the key players. So those things, those are the big things that have really moved
me and where I'm going. In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his brothers John and
Frank and sister Isabel McBride. The original projection was that was going to take five years. And
he was very happy to meet me because I spoke English and we got to know each other and he said,
Oh, you have to come to Nigeria. This was necessary as many volunteers were returning from tours
in Africa infected with AIDs. I ended up back working at Northwestern, which is all pulling it
together. That's really something that wouldn't have come together without the institute because we'd
been trying for a long time as a center, but we needed more breadth and we needed more funding,
and now we have it. He pulled that country together and AIDS was just becoming a big problem

investment, or health advice. And then they were getting a variety of terrible, opportunistic
infections that overlap somewhat with what cancer patients get. And it turns out it's actually not very
contagious. He is a military veteran with zeal, passion of quality leadership and team success, and is
highly regarded as an expert in community relations, military veteran community reintegration, team
building, and results-based leadership. The school had its own little like hospital, and I was just like,
so impressed with, you know, how everything worked systematically. I joined a collaboration with a
group of Europeans, French, British, German and Spanish, and we started like an informal network
that studied many of these new combinations of drugs, so I got involved with them. People of color
face even greater hardship and are more likely to have deferred or missed payments, putting them at
greater risk of eviction and foreclosure.” If you are in loan forbearance now, what happens next. And
at one point this evolved into me being the biggest emitter of patients to the hospital and
unfortunately, signer of death certificates because all my patients died. Ingram Lectureship, the
Rising Star Award was presented. And so they sent me to Benin, the sliver of a country next to
Nigeria and Togo. If I'm looking on a screen and the person on the other screen is somebody I'd
trained who has a Ph.D. now, I know the person that's really the story. They wrote nice letters of
