Prior to the commencement of the project, TechPro had internally assessed that the
digitization of AksumPost could take longer than the publicized 9 months due to the outdated
manual systems in place. However, this assessment was never shared with AksumPost or
made public, as TechPro was optimistic about overcoming these challenges swiftly.
The internal assessment report was drafted and signed off by the Assessment Managerial
Personnel of TechPro. The same personnel left the company mid-project after internal
conflict within the company. The company has frequently defaulted on projects and the
conflict centred around employees objecting to false assertions being made to clients. This
turnover also led to a loss of project continuity and misunderstandings regarding project
deliverables and timelines.
The management fears they may leak this report, becoming “anonymous whistleblowers”. It
is therefore in TechPro’s interests to settle the matter amicably outside of the courtroom
before the reports come to light. They have been informed by their lawyers that the report
will surely be disclosed in court, if not at the hand of the disgruntled employees, and its
reveal may cause AksumPost to introduce charges of Fraud.
Therefore, they are willing to revise the payment plan with AksumPost, to appease them at
the moment.
TechPro has since updated its systems, but vendors are awaiting payments, which TechPro
hopes to pay from AksumPost’s payments. Therefore, they urgently require the first payment
in the plan to be sizeable, and subsequent payments may be relaxed over some time. They are
adamant on not giving up this claim, but may reconsider if Aksum offers TechPro any
significant monetary advantage, apart from payment.
Their first preference remains receiving a strong upfront payment, as they run the risk of
facing insolvency proceedings by vendors. Any monetary advantage offered must be in a
nature to appease creditors.
