PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE

Pola kalimat yang digunakan untuk menceritakan suatu fakta atau kejadian yang berlangsung
berulang kali pada waktu sekarang.

I, you, they, we : Do
She, he, it : Does

Formula : Contoh :
(+) S + Verb 1 + O (+) She walks to school everyday
(-) S + Do/Does + not + V1 + O (-) She does not walk to school everyday
(?) Do/Does + S + V1 + O? (?) Does she walk to school everyday?

PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE


Untuk menceritakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung sekarang.
Formula : Contoh :
(+) S + is/am/are + V-ing + O (+) He is watching movie now
(-) S + is/am/are + not + V-ing + O (-) He is not watching movie now
(?) is/am/are + S + V-ing + O (?) Is he watching movie now?

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE


Untuk menceritakan kejadian yang sudah atau telah dilakukan sekarang tetapi memiliki
pengaruh hingga masa kini, fokus pada sudah atau belum, durasi tidak terlalu penting.

I, you, they, we : Have


She, he, it : Has

Formula : Contoh :
(+) S + have/has + Verb 3 + O (+) I have slept for 3 hours
(-) S + have/has + not + V3 + O (-) I have not slept for 3 hours
(?) have/has + S + V3 + O? (?) Have I slept for 3 hours?

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE


Untuk menceritakan kejadian yang dimulai dari masa lampau dan masih berlanjut hingga
sekarang atau baru saja selesai.

Formula :
(+) S + have/has + been + V-ing + O
(-) S + have/has + not + been + V-ing + O
(?) have/has + S + been + V-ing + O?

Contoh :
(+) I have been working in Jakarta for three years
(-) I have not been working in Jakarta for three years
(?) Have I been working in Jakarta for three years?
PAST SIMPLE TENSE
Untuk menceritakan kejadian di masa lampau yang telah selesai.

You, they, we : Were


I, she, he, it : Was

Formula :
(+) S + Verb 2 + O
(-) S + did + not + V1 + O
(?) Did + S + V1 + O?

Contoh :
(+) I went to Bali last year
(-) I did not go to Bali last year
(?) Did I go to Bali last year?

PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE


Untuk menceritakan tindakan di masa lalu yang sedang berlangsung, biasanya memiliki 2
kejadian.

Formula :
(+) S + was/were + V-ing + O
(-) S + was/were + not + V-ing + O
(?) Was/were + S + V-ing + O?

Contoh :
(+) I was reading a book yesterday
(-) I was not reading a book yesterday
(?) Was I reading a book yesterday?

Contoh 2 :
(Past continuous + when + past simple)
(+) We were playing outside when the teacher came
(-) We weren’t playing outside when the teacher came
(?) Were we playing outside when the teacher came?

PAST PERFECT TENSE


Untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi telah selesai pada suatu titik dimasa lalu sebelum aksi
lainnya terjadi. Aksi yang telah selesai dimasa lampau itu dapat terjadi berulang kali maupun
hanya sekali.

Formula :
(+) S + had + Verb 3 + O
(-) S + had + not + V3 + O
(?) Had + S + V3 + O?
Formula 2 : (Past perfect + when/before/by the time + simple past tense)
(+) She had gone to china when I called her

Formula 3 : (Simple past tense + after + past perfect tense)


(+) Gavin went to campus after he had his breakfast

PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE


Untuk mengungkapkan suatu tindakan masa lalu sampai titik tertentu di masa lalu juga
(Sudah, sedang, dan masih), dan dengan waktu yang spesifik.

Formula :
(+) S + had been + V-ing + O
(-) S + had not been + V-ing + O
(?) Had + S + been + V-ing + O?

Contoh :
(+) I had been living in busan for ten years
(-) I had not been living in busan for ten years
(?) Had I been living in busan dor ten years?

FUTURE SIMPLE TENSE


Untuk mengungkapkan suatu tindakan di masa depan secara spontan atau terencana.

I, you, they, we, she, he, it : will


I, we : shall

Formula :
(+) S + will/shall + Verb 1 + O
(-) S + will/shall + not + V1 + O
(?) will/shall + S + V1 + O?

Contoh :
(+) I will meet you tomorrow
(-) I will not meet you tomorrow
(?) Will I meet you tomorrow?

Formula 2 :
(+) S + is/am/are + going to + Verb 1 + O
(-) S + is/am/are + going to + V1 + O
(?) is/am/are + S + going to + V1 + O?

Contoh :
(+) I am going to paint my bedroom tomorrow
(-) I am not going to paint my bedroom tomorrow
(?) Am I going to paint my bedroom tomorrow?
FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE
Untuk menceritakan tindakan di masa depan yang sedang terjadi, dengan waktu yang
spesifik.

Formula :
(+) S + will/shall + be + V-ing + O
(-) S + will/shall + not + be + V-ing + O
(?) will/shall + S + be + V-ing + O?

Contoh :
(+) I will be walking to school at 7 a.m. tomorrow
(-) I will not be walking to school at 7 a.m tomorrow
(?) will I be walking to school at 7 a.m. tomorrow?

FUTURE PERFECT TENSE


Untuk menceritakan tindakan yang sudah akan terjadi di masa depan atau akan selesai dimasa
depan.

Formula :
(+) S + will/shall + have + Verb 3 + O
(-) S + will/shall + not + have + V3 + O
(?) will/shall + S + have + V3 + O?

Contoh :
(+) I will have graduated from school next week
(-) I will not be have graduated from school next week
(?) will I have graduated from school next week?

FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE


Untuk menjelaskan durasi yang akan terjadi dimasa depan atau sedang terjadi.

Formula :
(+) S + will/shall + have + been + V-ing + O
(-) S + will/shall + not + have + been + V-ing + O
(?) will/shall + S + have + been + V-ing + O

Contoh :
(+) By 2021, I have been learning chinese for 1 year
