1. Explain the different barriers and breakdowns to communication process.


2. What is system theory of management? In what ways is it different from neo-classical
theory?
3. How does training help in employee development?
4. What are the major variables that affect motivation at work place?
5. What problems would you like to discuss to determine the nature of management?
6. Comment on the following-
a) Centralization & Decentralization go together.
b) MBO is both a technique as well as a philosophy.

Section – B (Attempt any two Questions) 20 Marks

7. a) Discuss the main techniques of forecasting for sales projections of a B2B Company.
Give examples wherever it is necessary.
b) “Whatever a manager does, he does through decision-making.” Examine critically
this statement.
8. Discuss in detail about budgetary and non-budgetary control techniques for the financial
department of a Pharmaceutical organisation.
9. Compare line, functional and line, staff organizations. Which of these is more
appropriate for a large scale tourism enterprise?

10. CASE STUDY:

You have recently passed P.G. Diploma Examination in Personnel Management. A large
steel manufacturing company has appointed you as their personnel manager. The
company employs 720 persons in all. You have been given the complete charge of the
company’s personnel department.

B. What problems do you foresee in your job?
C. What steps are you going to take to perform your job efficiently?
