MECHANICS FOR VERSE CHOIR COMPETITION CURRICULUM LEVEL

1. The contestants are all bonafide students of CNCHS from Grade 7 to Grade 10 STE and TECHVOC programs.

2. The contestants shall use “If I Were a Voice by Charles Mackay”, a contest piece shall be delivered in five (5) to seven
(7) minutes. A one (1) point deduction from every minute exceed shall be imposed.

3. The contestants shall develop creative and appropriate interpretation that reflects the author’s viewpoint and mood.

4. Repetition of words and additional lines not found in the piece are not allowed. Entrance and exit chants are excluded in
the overall performance. However, transition chant in between the stanzas is allowed.

5. Contestants must wear only their school uniform but they are allowed to make modification. If ever they failed to comply,
one (1) point will be deducted from their overall performance.

6. The use of dangerous/risky stunts, drums, and voice enhancer is strictly prohibited.

7. The contestants are not allowed to hire outside trainers.

8. The judges’ decision shall be considered final and irrevocable upon submission of the results to the committee.

9. Only top five contestants shall be announced as winners.

10. The top two (2) winners from each grade level will compete in the final round.
