a. How would you explain the following?


i. 0.05 alpha level or level of significance.
ii. 0.01 alpha level or level of significance.
iii. Degree of freedom

v. Type 2 error
vi. Two- tailed test
vii. One- tailed test (14 marks)
b. A researcher went to Abuja Model Study Centre of National Open
University of Nigeria to determine the enrolment pattern of students to some
academic programmes according to religion. He analysed his data using a
4x4 contingency table and came out with the following results.

χ² calculated = 13.58, χ² on the table = 16.92, P = 0.05, N = 520

i. Formulate a null hypothesis for this study


ii. Formulate an alternative hypothesis for this study.
iii. Find the degree of freedom (df)
iv. Recommend the decision rule for this study.
v. What is the decision for this study based on the hypotheses.
vi. What does χ² stand for? (16 marks)

a. How do you differentiate between Research and Educational Research?


b. You have just finished the study of Basic Research Methods in Education. A
would- be researcher has come to you, for you to educate him on how to
carry on his study. Explain to him the steps he will take to start and finish
the research study. (20 marks).

In the process of undertaking your research project, your supervisor has


recommended that you use Observation as a method of data collection.

b. Recommend the guides which will help you have good observations.
