1. Introduction:
Objective: Introduce the topic of hobbies, set the context for the lesson, and explain the
importance of being able to describe one's hobbies in English.
Activity:
1. Gather materials: Prepare pictures or videos related to hobbies, flashcards or visuals
for key vocabulary, props related to hobbies (optional), and role-playing cards (optional).
2. Pre-teach vocabulary: Introduce key vocabulary and phrases related to hobbies using
flashcards, games, or interactive activities.
3. Prepare sentence starters and prompts: Create a list of sentence starters and prompts
like "In my free time, I like to..." or "One of my hobbies is..." to support students during
discussions.
4. Begin with a class discussion about hobbies. Ask students if they have any hobbies,
then ask them to tell about their hobbies, and then direct their friends to respond.
- Ask student to discuss why hobbies are important for personal development and
relaxation.
- Introduce key vocabulary and phrases related to hobbies. For example: "I
enjoy," "I like," "My favorite hobby is," etc.

guiding the discussion.
2. Presentation:
Objective: Expose students to authentic language use and provide a model for discussing
hobbies in English.
Activity:
1. Divide students into pairs.
2. Provide each pair with a discussion prompt card related to hobbies. Examples:
* "Tell your partner about your favorite hobby and why you enjoy it."
* "Ask your partner what they do to relax and listen to their experiences. Then, share
your own hobbies and preferences."
* Monitor the discussions and offer support if needed.
Teacher's Role: Guide the students in identifying and understanding the language used in
authentic contexts.
