SALIENT FEATURES OF CONTACTOR SWITCHED AHPFC PANEL

1] SUPER HEAVY DUTY CAPACITORS (MAKE: FRAKO, GERMANY)

We are offering super heavy duty long life capacitors with highest reliability with Triple
protection segmented PP technology with 450 times current limiting feature & 2.7 times rated
current handling capacity with lowest loss of 0.2 Watt/KVAR having following special features.

Superior features in FRAKO capacitor (Latest Development):

We are pleased to inform you about the latest development in the manufacturing process of
FRAKO MPP capacitors.

The Capacitors are now provided with the Patented Contact Rings made from special alloy and
having pointed teeth. These are used for improved end connection quality with spot welded
connection to the internal leads.

The new 2016 edition of FRAKO Brochure is attached herewith for your reference.
Heavy Duty FRAKO MPP capacitors are capable of continuously carrying 270% of rated current
which is a very essential and useful feature in a hostile harmonic environment. These capacitors
are self-protected and do not depend on any external safety provisions. There is now a fourfold
built in safe construction to ensure trouble free operation under abnormal conditions till the end
of service life of the capacitors.

The inherent safety features are:

Self-Healing MPP Film:

Any localized heating due to heavy surge currents is automatically cleared and the faulty
section is isolated by the self-healing process.

Segmented Metalized Film:

If there are several occurrences of self-healing process in a small metalized film area due to
heavy currents then self-healing action alone may not be able to cope up with the situation due
to the enormous amount of energy produced and may result in failure of capacitor. This is
prevented by segmented film construction which restricts the fault within the affected segment
area and the affected segment is isolated and the fault is not allowed to spread throughout the
film. The capacitor life is thus enhanced.

Three Phase Overpressure Disconnector:

There is a patented three phase mechanical fuse incorporated in each capacitor. If there is an
excessive internal pressure development due to overloading or at the end of service life of
capacitor then the mechanical fuse safely isolates all the poles from supply thus avoiding any
unsafe condition during failure.

Patented Contact Ring:

The patented Contact Rings made from special alloy and having pointed teeth are used for
secure end connections with spot welded connection to the internal leads. This is a solder free
design which avoids damaging the winding at manufacturing stage due to overheating during
soldering process.

2] REACTOR

We are offering heavy duty Tuned & Detuned reactors with linearity up to 200% for high reliability
& low losses.

 Multi-tapped reactors are also available for special applications.


 Harmonics reduction as per IEEE-519-1992 is guaranteed.

Significance of high linearity up to 200%:

 Higher saturation point for core (B-H Curve)


 Low linearity may affect tuning frequency of L-C circuit & leads to premature failure of
capacitors.
 Better handling capacity for harmonic mitigation due to higher saturation point in case
of harmonic overloading on the network.
 High temperature handling capacity.
 Longer trouble free operation.
