For this room, I actually used some inexpensive Target duvets and used clip rings to secure them to
the curtain rod. Check out our archives for over 1,000 DIY and home-related projects. I painted it a
soft white color, and that became the feature wall of the space. We also have a nearby “craft closet”
for their supplies (believe me, that NEEDS to be behind closed doors, I may not open those doors if
you come to my house to visit!). We removed dozens of dusty glass shelves, track lighting, and
stained carpet, and turned it into a homework area with a triple desk for our three baby cakes. I have
done this before with twin sized duvets, but since this was such a large slider door, I actually used
queen sized ones. It looks amazing! I need something just like this for my house. I was happy with
how it turned out and I loved doing ORC-I’m so doing it again. Everything works so well and that
table is from ikea. The set will last for years and the carry case keeps all the colorful tools safe. I’m
Kristin, an interior designer, and owner of Postbox Designs, an E-Design company working for
clients all over the country. Unless otherwise noted, you may not use this content without written
permission. You used the space so well, the details are so good. Each child can have one and keep all
of their supplies in there just waiting for them when it is time to study. Now we have an out of the
way place to let them work on their masterpieces. I just checked out yours-it is gorgeous, what a
change, I hope you guys are LOVING your new space. You are going to adore exploring their blogs
for more outstanding DIY’s and inspiration. These pass trough spaces can so easily get over looked
but this is a great use for the space. Toddler posters should include different colors, shapes, numbers,
weather, and seasons in colorful designs to help keep their very fleeting attention. Guilty as charged.
But as a former biochem major nerd, I was giddy to find these as an ode to all of those chemistry
classes I took in college. The success behind creating the right homeschool room is to make it suit
yourself and your children. Make sure the chair is designed to support good posture, and that the
desk is large enough to fit their books and stationery. I would love to see what it looks like when you
are done ?? Cheers. What was that? You need to see the horrible, strange “Before” picture. I LOVE
that table. Do you have a link to it on IKEA or know the name to search. A desk organizer, where
you can file your papers and work, which has space for stationery as well is a must-have. You can
move the clock hands independently and get them to tell the time on their own. I made a few
changes along the last six weeks but here was the vision. First of all, I wanted this space to be
budget-friendly, so it helped cut down on costs to do a table-like desk.
This project has been so much fun, and it has been chock full of DIY projects and simple but fun
ideas. If you want to check out my Homework Station sources AND see even more Design Freebies
such as Mood Boards, Shopping Lists, and Guides, then you are in luck. So mine is from Ikea (top
and the legs) and the top is fairly light considering the size. Choose a room to set up your
homeschool area, and stick to it. In fact, with the Ikea version, you don’t even screw in the legs, the
top just rests on them. Place this large visual on the wall for them to refer back to when they need to,
and to help you teach them. I bet the kids love it as much as I love seeing it. I love your idea of
doubling it as a coffee bar-you could add some farmhouse style shelves over it (I like some of the
Ikea shelf hacks out there on Pinterest) or adding some fun coffee inspired word art oversized print
over it (try Etsy). You can get a desk top in a dozen different finishes. To help you create the ideal
homeschool room, here are some great ideas. Here are some ideas to help you get to work on a
homework space in your own home. From the beginning I loved the idea of a triple desk for our
three kids, so I found this beauty at Ikea-I love the warm walnut top and sturdy, industrial legs. I did
hire out an electrician to install the lights because 1. Or how you can work with me via Online
Interior Design. A special spot in their room, the playroom, or even in a hallway can quickly be
transformed into a dedicated space for homework, crafts or quiet time with a great desk and some
wall storage solutions. Full disclosure-I’m usually in the comfort of my bed under the covers. But
also, we do have a mudroom where my kid’s keep their backpacks and school things. Do you have a
little corner in your house to transform into a homework room. We had the electrician hardwire the
lights first, THEN we installed our shiplap, then we installed the lights over the shiplap. Unless
otherwise noted, you may not use this content without written permission. Guilty as charged. But as

up as early as possible. Anyone who knows me knows my absolute weakness for anything
monogrammed. You can write, draw, and erase, and your kids can also use the board as well. You

them out for my other words.

the complete set that you need, and that all your posters will match. You used the space so well, the
details are so good. Educational posters are great to hang on the wall to add some extra educational
content. Honest to goodness I took three wall paint colors that I already owned and mixed them
together for a custom color. Don’t let this cutie pie fool you though, she’s the one who is going to
use that red marker on the walls one day. Do you have a little corner in your house to transform into
a homework room. I was happy with how it turned out and I loved doing ORC-I’m so doing it again.
Or how you can work with me via Online Interior Design. I love it! Makes me want to pull out a

A desk organizer, where you can file your papers and work, which has space for stationery as well is
a must-have. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service
should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question. I added in some gray, cream,
and a little bit of blue to make that cool gray color. The set will last for years and the carry case
keeps all the colorful tools safe. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. It is
always a good idea to purchase items that will last a few years, so you don’t have to replace them
every year and spend a fortune. I did hire out an electrician to install the lights because 1. I hope
your kids love it too (well probably not the doing homework part). One thing they really need to
have is a desk and a chair to sit comfortably on while they learn. No excuses for fighting over whose
chair is whose. This striped pencil caddy will corral all of the loose pens, pencils, and crayons
(depending on who is using the space!). Plus for my oldest two who are in school, this is a great
homework station. I love your idea of doubling it as a coffee bar-you could add some farmhouse
style shelves over it (I like some of the Ikea shelf hacks out there on Pinterest) or adding some fun
coffee inspired word art oversized print over it (try Etsy). Make sure the chair is designed to support

But most importantly, something very practical, durable, and useful. A special spot in their room, the
playroom, or even in a hallway can quickly be transformed into a dedicated space for homework,
crafts or quiet time with a great desk and some wall storage solutions. Educational posters are great
to hang on the wall to add some extra educational content. I would love to see what it looks like

some strong string or twine and some craft pegs. I ended up only framing one, so I will occasionally

replace them every year and spend a fortune. It can be personalized with your child’s favorite color
and it even has a chalkboard. Those monogrammed pillows are gorgeous and that DIY rug. So mine
is from Ikea (top and the legs) and the top is fairly light considering the size. Love the ship lap wall,
the lights and the long desk. And because some kids don’t learn best at a desk, we added this
beanbag chair (with a buddy, Mr. Bear to snuggle). It can be a mini reading spot or a place to take a
break for awhile. Everything works so well and that table is from ikea. This is what I picture Joanna
Gaines kids work area to be: ). That way you don’t have to constantly clean up and set up, and you
can build on what you have already established in that area. A cascading wall organizer will help you
color-code your children’s work, and keep it neatly filed away while saving a whole lot of space.
I’ve slowly been working my way down the links for the ORC and am so impressed with everyone’s
projects. So good. Unless otherwise noted, you may not use this content without written permission.
We also ripped out the old, stained white carpet (White carpet.

for them. So here are 30 of my homework room design favorites. A desk organizer, where you can

the old, stained white carpet (White carpet. If you are building it yourself and are using a heavy
piece of wood I think adding in an extra middle support is NEVER a bad idea. The typical store
sizes are not an option so they would have to be custom. Even though the owner(s) of this blog
