CIS 101 Practice Test for Excel 2010


These are samples of the type of questions you will be asked during the CIS101 in class Excel exam. The exam will be closed book, closed notes. You will be able to use help for Excel. Solutions to these questions will be distributed next week. During the Excel exam you will produce an excel file. You will need to be able to save your Excel file and submit via blackboard. The Excel exam will not be restricted to the topics covered in this practice exam. These are only samples of the type of questions that will be asked. All of the material covered for Excel in class in tutorials 1-4. Create an Excel spreadsheet with the following specifications:

Instructions: 1. Enter the titles and data for the above spreadsheet 2. Bold all categories 3. Assign the worksheet title PACE Motor Sales. to cell A1 4. Change the width of Column A to 20. Change the width of Columns B through J to 15. 5. Using appropriate formulas calculate the totals for columns D, F, and G 6. Using appropriate Functions, In cells H9, H10, and H11 calculate the average, minimum, and maximum cost per unit (dont include totals in the calculations.) 7. Format all cells which contain money values in Rows 5 and 9 as Currency, with a $ symbol 8. Format all cells which contain money values in Rows 6, 7 and 8 as Currency, with no $ symbol 9. Select the Page Layout Ribbon and apply the Theme/Civic to the Table. 10. Merge & Center the worksheet title, PACE Motors Inc., across columns A through J. 11. Select the range A1:J1. Change the Cell Style to Accent 2. 12. Select Cells A2:J3 Apply Cell Style Accent 5. Bold the column headings, enable text wrap, and place a heavy bottom border below them. Center the column headings in columns B through J 13. Delete row 2 14. Select the range A4:J7 and change apply Cell Style Accent 5 40% 15. Change the height of row 8 to 27.00 points. 16. Change the background color in the range A8:J8 to Accent 2. Change the worksheet tab name to Total Sales. 17. Use the Conditional Formatting command on the Home/Styles Ribbon to color the background Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text of any cell in the range C4:C7 that has a value less than 25,000. 18. Apply a Thick Box Border around the values: C4:C7. 19. In Column G (g4:g7) (Total Profit) Apply Light Blue Databars to the column. 20. Change the row height of the worksheet title to 24 points, change the font to 18-point Times New Roman, and bold the title. 21. Enter your name in cell B10. In the cells directly below your name, enter your course and CRN number. 22. Use the Date Function for Now () in cell B13 23. Save the workbook using the file name, Yourname-excel, where Yourname is your own last name. 24. In page setup change the orientation to landscape. 25. Press CTRL+~ to change the display from values to formulas. Print the formulas to fit on one page in the worksheet. After the printer is finished, reset the worksheet to display the values by pressing CTRL+~ 26. Selecting the ranges A3:A7, and F3:F7, create a 3D Pie chart. Move the Pie Chart to a separate sheet and rename the Worksheet tab, Pie Chart. 27. Using the Layout Ribbon, add a Chart Title (Enter your Name as the Chart Title), and apply Percentage data- labels to the chart. Apply a Chart Style of your own choosing. 28. Print the Pie Chart using landscape orientation. 29. Attach the completed file to Week 5 Homework/ Excel Practice Exam
