Joseph Ulmer https://youtu.be/OsmS Exploring ExoWorlds The search for exoplanets is one of the fastest growing fields in astronomy, as well
aSdggKs with Indus Space as one that attracts the interest of the wider public, and one in which Canadian
researchers play an active role. Our goal at Indus Space is to connect Canadian
youth with themes and careers in space exploration, so we set out to develop
programming that had students explore this field firsthand. In particular, we sought
to create activities that put Grade 6-12 kids in the role of exoplanet scientists,
retrieving data based on real research and imagining what these worlds might look
like. Working either individually or in teams, students begin by exploring the
different types of planets that exist, both in our Solar System and beyond, as well as
the different methods for detecting exoplanets. From there students take on the
role of researchers, being given sample datasets inspired by real exoplanets and
given the task of completing a "profile checklist" based on that data to describe
what these worlds are like to their peers. This activity was first developed last fall for
a virtual program inviting middle school students to invent names for new
exoplanets. More recently, it was also developed as an in-class activity for high
school students by one of our co-op students. Aspects of it were also incorporated
into our adaptation of the ESA Hack and Exoplanet Challenge.
Petra Ruoho https://youtu.be/mSIon Lunar lander The idea was to design, build and test a lunar lander that can land with astronauts
zGF82Q challenge safely on the ground. Students had to use limited amount of materials and figure
out different kind of shock-absorbing systems and stable constructions. Winner was
the lander dropped from the greatest height without breaking, flipping over or
throwing astronauts away.
This project was part of the studies of energy and motion. We explored kinetic,
potential, elastic, deformation and heat energy, including the law of conservation of
energy. At the end we calculated kinetic energy of our own and real Apollo 15 lunar
landers. We also used chatGPT to get needed information.
Students practiced collaboration and basic engineering skills. They were very
enthusiastic and everyone did their best to win the race.
Thorsten Kimmeska https://www.youtube.c The "Calliope mini" This experiment was our submission for the CalliopEO-contest, which brought the
mp om/watch?v=MMQc9D as a (zero-)gravity Calliope mini, a small computer mostly used in elementary schools, to the ISS in late
gA3Lc detector on board of 2021. The task I chose for the children was to program the Calliope in such a way,
the ISS that it would show us with its built-in LED, whether it really is on board of the ISS, or
down here on earth. Of the many sensors, which the Calliope offers, the children
rightfully chose the accelerometer. As it operates relative to a free fall-situation, it
should show values near zero on board of the ISS and 1 g on earth. Throwing the
Calliope into the air, thus generating a very small period of zero-g, suggested that it
should work… Finally, an e-mail containing the sensor-values which had been logged
during the experiment on the ISS, proved, that it also worked in space! As the
restrictions for the experiment were tough (max. 90 seconds, no interaction
possible), we were of course proud of our “(zero-)gravity detector”. And the
children were so engaged, that the mission to let them experience how exciting
science is, has surely been accomplished, too :-)

studied the space exploration history, the second one included a review of the
international agreements and conventions governing space missions, while the third
stage, that was not entirely collaborative, involved the participation of the two
independent school groups in the international competition “Moon Camp Challenge
2022-2023”, organized by ESA, Airbus Foundation and Autodesk. The competition’s
thematic axis was the design of a three-dimensional autonomous lunar base for the
safe and long-term stay for a team of six astronauts. For achieving a scientifically

Daniela Brogna https://youtu.be/7EPk6 From Earth to Moon The learning path was structured for the second and third classes of Secondary
gIgzB8 (and beyond) Lower School. "From Earth to Moon" is a virtual journey of the pupils into Space,
starting from Earth and precisely from their own school learning environment, a
creative space-bending atelier with an immersive and simulation space corner in
which the pupils with educational robotics activities, programmed a special guest, a
humanoid robot called Nao Space, narrator of this storytelling. In reality, the
humanoid works for ESA as an astronaut scientist and accompanies students in
simulations of experimentation on the lunar surface through a manual artifact in
which the pupils programmed MBots (robotic kits) as rovers exploring the soil of the
satellite from the dark and still unexplored part. Students built AR environments
with the CoSpaces Edu tool to narrate the virtual laboratory journey of a spacecraft

that could reach the Moon (and in the future Mars), through digital simulation
platforms also unpublished that the teacher experimented with the class group
(Scientix pilot). This journey to the Moon and beyond also included architectural
designs for the lunar settlement of the future, for an increasingly green and digital
challenge, and of course all the space activities of the IC Fonseca pupils were
integrated, including those designed for participation in the ESA Education
challenges (MoonCamp and Astro Pi -Mission zero). This project leaves a door open
to future space education activities on Mars, to explore the study of a very
ambitious but ever closer challenge.

Therefore, muscles are not ready anymore to sustain the body weight, and the
neuro-muscular system is not able anymore to properly move the body.
It is possible to make people partly experience this condition of inadequacy to
Earth's gravity by adding external weight on them (mainly on the chest, ankles,
wrists), so that their body suddenly becomes inadequate and unfit to perform
common daily activities, as it is for astronauts after their return on Earth. These
activities include walking, climbing stairs, and moving objects.
It is also possible to "trick" our nervous system with some vestibular disequilibrium
movements to mimic astronauts' coordination and sensory impairments.

U7CCC2U Mission" 5th Grade This project aimed to introduce robotics - as learning object, by including eco-
Bannia Italy focused educational activities (animals, plants, garden themed), - as learning tool for
teaching and learning environmental science subjects on a project-based
methodology. Groups of students had fun in international STEM classes. They
followed common lesson plans and did creative activities using LEGO® bricks, coding
and web2 tools that helped them gain STEM skills. At the same time they improved
their English communication skills, developed cultural awareness and fostered
teamwork.
We set up age groups and international teams for team building activities at the
beginning such as the “Robot Cake challenge”.
Oldest students used the "Lego education app" in order to construct Lego robots by
following the step by step procedure. Youngest choose ideas from activities for
Maker in Preschool. All activities were paired up with a similar craft-creative activity,
for younger groups to follow, even for classes with no Lego kit, or in case of
lockdown since the project was developed in 2020-21 s.y., so kids could follow
anyway from home.
We investigated topics as plants and pollinators, the animal month, we participated
at the Coding week, we had online gaming events. In February pupils could see
what's like landing to Mars from Nasa mission, so we had the idea for a new
challenge, involving them building a Lego Wedo model of Perseverance called
"Percy". We applied and get the European Quality Label.

Maria Norgini https://www.youtube.c Astro club - Lunar The habitation module is designed to have two configurations: one for travel (100
Chiara om/watch?v=0LWKVmq living module m3) and one for operation (250 m3) capable of housing 4 astronauts for at least 360
G4K0 Earth days. The characteristics for the voyage are aerodynamics, robustness,
reduced volume and mass in order to have lower fuel consumption and ease of
transportation. In the travel configuration, the intermediate floors rest on the base
module and stacked together with the dome. The features of the operating
configuration are: resistance to solar radiation, protection from severe temperature
range, and protection from meteor rain in addition to those required to live there.
Pressurization of the module to be initiated as soon as the module is properly
placed on the Moon will start the process of expansion of the whole module so as to
have a uniform interplane distance of about 3 m. This shape variation is allowed by
the presence of extendable walls. The operational configuration is completed by a
wall made from circular sector formwork made of prefabricated light metal alloy
assembled interlocking in place and filled progressively with regolith sand. Such a
wall allows protection from radiation solar radiation and provides good thermal
insulation and protects against small meteorites. The solution adopted allows for a
practical vertical closure in order to minimize the on-site workings. In view of the
fact that the hours of light at the lunar south pole are many and that this results in
an alteration of the sleep-wake rhythm, it is not planned to use direct lighting but
rather artificial lighting through lights powered by solar panels placed outside.

increasingly common, especially in cities, and which has devastating influences on
the environment and the ecosystem.
Students learned information about what light pollution means, learned how to
observe it and what are the factors of this pollution. Then they learned how we can
illuminate, without causing damage, both for the environment/ecosystem, but also
to save on our own budget. They learned to observe the stars and appreciate a clear
sky.
The most important step in this project was making a set of rules about taking care

Gabriela 4zXoJ4 Through brainstorming, students found connections between literary texts and one
of their greatest passions: SPACE.
An example of a connection: between the popular ballad "Miorița" and space
missions.
After discussing both, I challenged my students to find similarities between them.
This is how wonderful ideas resulted, among which I remember:
Both represent a journey of knowledge, initiatives;
Ø In both there are symbols: the sun, the moon
Ø Travel in the past (in Miorita) and in the future (space missions) both distant
Ø The myth of the great passage, the myth of the shooting star, the allegorical,
cosmic wedding
Ø Man-Universe connection
Ø Nature as space and living environment (on the Moon and other planets in the
future)
Ø Both NASA/ESA and Miorita have the gift of seeing into the future
Ø The space that unites: some the air, others the earth
Ø The connection between man and the cosmos
Ø An astral view of the world
Ø Terrestrial and cosmic travel
Ø ESA/NASA works thanks to the exceptional work of research teams, Miorița is a
collective creation of people
Ø Transhumance: our move in SPACE at a given time - the transhumance of sheep -
their move from the mountains to the plains, depending on the seasons
Ø Connection with the Universe and the Earth
Ø The main actor is MAN in both
Ø The story of APOLLO 13- a successful failure-turned into a survival mission-the
astronauts found ingenious solutions to return home safely-link with the will of the

Cecilia 7D2sg4 but today we are far from meeting this target. This is the starting point of our
project "S O S water", an educational project carried out with primary school
students. With this project we manage to make them become responsible,
competent and leading citizens, in order to face the challenges they are about to
face.
Finding clean water on Mars is a priority. By using different technological tools, we
aimed to seek small solutions to the big problem of water pollution. The aim of this
project is to generate awareness and participation for the protection of water
resources throughout the world by involving all the agents of the educational
community through their direct participation and with the dissemination of the
project.
In the first part of the project we collected information and designed presentation
and a game with Scratch. After this we plan to train a machine to learn how to
analyse the pH of water with Learning Machine Learning and we intend to finish
with the design, creation and programming of a robot with LEGO pieces that will
allow us to reach inaccessible places and take water samples.

to understand that water is a natural resource of great value and that we do not
often pay enough attention to it.
It is therefore a priority to focus on the need to have quality water for social,
economic and environmental benefits, including adaptation to climate change and
the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
It's not all bad news, nowadays we have technologies that have enabled automation
in the monitoring and control of water quality. The purpose of this project is to
make the educational community aware of and responsible for the cleanliness and
conservation of water at a local level, as well as to seek sustainable solutions that
guarantee a better future for everybody.
