PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Usamos el presente continuo para hablar de acciones que suceden en este momento,
ahora.
We use the present continuous to talk abaut actions that there are happening now,
at this moment.

ESTRUCTURA

SUBJECT PRONOUN + VERB TO BE + ING

(ORACIONES AFIRMATIVAS / AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES)

EXAMPLES

I am listening music at this moment.

He is drinking water.
At this moment, she is driving her car.
The table (it) is coming from New York.
You are doing your homework at home.
We are enjoying this party.
They are planning their vacations.

*Para hacer una negación en este tiempo verbal, lo único que debemos de hacer es sumarle
el NOT al verb to be conjugado en presente, que como vimos, se puede abreviar.

SUBJECT PRONOUN + NOT +VERB TO BE + ING

EXAMPLES

I am not listening music.

He is not / isn´t drinking water.
At this moment, she is not / isn´t driving her car.
The table is not / isn´t coming from New York.
You are not / aren´t doing your homework at home.
We are not / aren´t enjoying this party.
They are not / aren´t planning their vacations.

*Para realizar preguntas con este tiempo verbal lo único que tenemos que hacer es cambiar
de lugar el verb to be conjugado, poniéndolo antes del subject pronoun.

VERB TO BE + SUBJECT PRONOUN + ING

EXAMPLES

Am I listening music?
Is he drinking water?
Is she driving her car?
Is the table coming?
Are you doing your homework at home?
Are we enjoying this party?
Are they planning their vacations?

PRESENTE SIMPLE
Usamos el presente simple para hablar de rutinas.
We use the present simple to talk about routines.

ESTRUCTURA BASICA

SUBJECT PRONOUN + VERB IN INFINITIVE

Es muy importante tener en cuenta que a la hora de formular oraciones (afirmativas) con la
tercera persona del singular (HE/SHE/IT) al verbo en infinitivo se le agrega la “S”. Ejemplo:
He plays handball every Monday.

EXAMPLES

I visit my parents two times a week.

You watch movies every from Netflix every Sunday.
He plays handball every Monday.
She goes to the library every Wednesday.
The plant (it) grows every day.
You do your English homework at home every Monday and Saturday.
We go to the park sometimes.
They fly to Venezuela every year.

TANTO PARA ORACIONES NEGATIVAS, COMO PARA LA FORMULACION DE PREGUNTAS Y LA

RESPUESTA DE LAS MISMAS, NECESITAMOS HACER USO DE LOS AUXILIARES DO&DOES. EL
DOES LO VAMOS A UTILIZAR PARA LA TERCER PERSONA DEL SINGULAR (HE/SHE/IT).

¿TIENE RELACION QUE EN LAS ORACIONES AFIRMATIVAS A LA TERCER PERSONA DEL

SINGULAR SE LE AGREGUE LA “S”? ¡POR SUPUESTO QUE SI! A LA HORA DE NEGAR EN LA
TERCER PERSONA DEL SINGULAR VAMOS A UTILIZAR EL AUXILIAR DOES + NOT Y EL VERBO QUE
EN AFIRMATIVO LLEVABA LA “S” AL FINAL AHORA NO LA LLEVA, JUSTAMENTE POR LA
PRESENCIA DEL “DOES”.

PARA FORMULAR PREGUNTAS Y CONTESTARLAS EN LA TERCER PERSONA DEL SINGULAR,

SUCEDE LO MISMO QUE DIJIMOS ANTERIORMENTE: SE UTILIZA EL DOES Y EL VERBO SIN LA “S”
FINAL.

PARA NEGAR

SUBJECT PRONOUN + DO/DOES + NOT + VERB IN INFINITIVE

EXAMPLES

I do not / don`t visit my parents two times a week.

You do not / don`t watch movies every from Netflix every Sunday.
He does not / doesn´t play handball every Monday.
She does not / doesn’t go to the library every Wednesday.
The plat does not / doesn´t grow every day.
You do not / don’t do your English homework every Monday and Saturday.
We do not / don’t go to the park sometimes.
They do not / don’t fly to Venezuela every year.

QUESTIONS

Para la formulación de preguntas al principio de las mismas va a ir el auxiliar correspondiente a

cada subject pronoun (DO/DOES). Como vimos más arriba, cuando utilicemos el DOES, el verbo
va a dejar de tener la “S” final. Las respuestas, también van a ir acompañadas de ese auxiliar.

EXAMPLES

Do I visit my parents two times a week? Yes I do. No I do not / don’t.

Do you watch movies every from Netflix every Sunday? Yes you do. No you do not / don’t.
Does he play handball every Monday? Yes he does. No he does not / doesn’t.
