4. CALCULATION
4.1 Piping Pressure Drop Calculation
A. Pressure drop by friction
Flowrate F = 0.0083 m3/s
Fluid velocity in pipe v = 1.01 m/s
Maximum fluid velocity in pipe v_max = 1.50 m/s
Velocity check = OK
Now friction factor are approximate by modified Colebrook formula that given by S.E.
Haaland (1983) :
1/√𝑓 = -1.8log (6.9/𝑁_𝑅𝑒 +
(𝜀/(3.7 𝐼𝐷))^1.11 )
Head loss due to pipe friction are calculate using d'Arcy formula:
ℎ_𝑓 =
(4𝑓𝐿
𝑣^2)/2𝑔𝐼𝐷
Head loss due to pipe friction hf 5.8 m
Pressure drop due to pipe friction ∆P_f = 0.6 bar

For internal flow, Nusselt number are calculated by using following equation by

Environment side are directly exposed to ambient air, and Nusslet number are
calculated by combining both forced and free convection. For forced convection,
Nusselt number are (Churchill & Bernstein correlation) :

Now, the heat resistant above are summed up to determine overall heat transfer
coefficient. For pipe region, heat flows from internal pipe to outer side pipe or vice
versa based on temperature different. Thus , R1 through R5 are sum up, then overall
heat transfer coefficient are calculated :
〖𝑈𝐴〗 _𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙=1/𝑅_T

Total heat ressistant R_tot = 0.0466 0

Overall heat transfer coefficient UA_tot = 21 W/0C
5. RESULTS
5.1 Piping Pressure Drop
Piping pressure drop of the system are calculated by summation of friction pressure
drop, fitting pressure drop, and elevation pressure drop.
