In recent years,there has been a noticeable shift in the patterns of educational and career
decisions made by high school graduate.An increasing number of student are opting to enter the
workforce immediately rather than pursuing higher education.This trend raises significant question
about the underlying factors influencing these decisions.The economic,social,and personal dimensions
might all play crucial roles.Understanding these factors is vital for educators policymakers,and
economic planners who aim to balance the needs of the labor market with educational policies
The decision to prioritize employment over higher education is a critical one,as it can
significantly impact an individual’s long term career prospects earning potential,and socio-economic
status .Despite the importance of this decision,there is a lack of comprehensive understanding about
why an increasing number of studentyare taking this path .Are these decisions driven by economic
necessity perceived inadequacies in the higher education system or changes in societal values? This
research aims to address these question and identify the primary factors influencing students
decisions
Research Objective
• Identify and analyze the key factors that influence students decision to prioritize employment
immediately after high school over pursuing higher education
• Examine the socio-economic backgrounds of the study making this decision to understand if
economic constraints shape their choice
• Explore the perception and attitudes of students toward higher education and employment including
the role of familial advice and societal expectation
Research Question
• What are the primary factors that influence students decision to seek employment rather than
continuing with higher education
• What role do the perceived value of higher education and the labor market conditions play in
shaping this decision
• The searchers will provide valuables insight’s or educational institution policymakers and community
leaders by understanding the factors driving the decision strategies can be developed to encourage
more balanced choices between immediate employment and further education potentially leading to
better economic and social outcomes
Methodology
This study will employ a mixed-methods approach,combining quantitative surveys with qualitative
interviews to gather comprehensive data.The quantitative component will involve surveying a
representative sample of recent highschool graduates while the qualitative component will consist of
in-depth interviews with selected participants to explore the nuances of their decisions-making
process
