Introduction
 Of course it have been through you The concept of this cooperation was
ears the word sustainable to solve the problem that effect the
development. In 1980, Earth then the GREEN CONSTRUCTION
the International Union for was one of the solution that they rich
Conservation of Nature published a
world conservation strategy that
included one of the first references
to sustainable development as a
global priority and introduced the
term "sustainable development“.
After exactly in 2014 the SDG
cooperation was create by the UN .

VI. How do You live a sustainable life style?
Definition:

 Sustainabledevelopment: is development
that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of
future generations to meet their own
needs.
Importance of sustainable
development:
Sustainability is important for a very simple reason : we cannot maintain our
quality of life as human beings, the diversity of life on Earth, or Earth’s
ecosystems unless we embrace it. There are indications from all quarters and
from the smallest to the largest scale that sustainability is something we must
address. We will run out of fossil fuels. Thousands if not millions of animal
species will become extinct. We will run out of lumber. We will damage the
atmosphere beyond repair… so sustainable development always encourages us
to conserve and enhance our resources, by gradually changing the manners in
which we develop and use technologies. All countries should meet their basic
needs of employment, food, energy, water and sanitation. In short,
sustainability is the key to a better future. Humans rely on natural resources
for business, activities, and survival. Ignoring sustainability can lead to the
exhaustion of natural resources.
Concepts:
 Throughout the evolution of the concept of sustainable development there
was consensus on the fact that it does not focus solely on environmental
issues. The three interdependent and mutually reinforcing pillars are:
Economic development

 Building a strong, competitive economy, by ensuring that the right type is

available in the right places and at the right time to support growth and
innovation; and identifying the coordinating development requirements.
Social development

 Is a proactive way of managing and identifying business impacts on

employees, workers in the value chain, customers , and local communities.
Companies that raise the importance of social sustainability recognize the
significance of their relationships with people, communities and society.
Environmental development

 Is to conserve natural resources and to develop alternate sources of power

while reducing pollution and harm to the environment . For environmental
sustainability, the state of the future –as measured in 50, 100 and 1000 years
is the guiding principal
Goals of sustainability
Benefits of sustainability
Lower climate impact
the world’s greatest challenge is
caused by human activity. By reducing
Ocean development
our dependence on fossil fuels, and
adopting clean energy, we can lessen the ocean drives global systems that
the concentration and flow of heat- make our planet habitable for
trapping greenhouse gases. This will mankind. Our drinking water, weather,
lessen the depletion of the ozone food and even the oxygen that we
layer. breathe are all controlled by the
ocean. With sustainability we can save
and sustain our fisheries, providing
food and livelihood to millions of
disadvantaged people.
Eco-cities

 As the adverse environmental effect on our

polluted megacities rises and population
pressures are felt everywhere, some
communities are rising to face these
economies challenges

 We have to create a level playing field so

that all sections of society can prosper.
Sustainable development helps us to
reduce wastes and cut costs. For
example, sustainable agriculture will
help us to reduce the wastage in farm
produce, which can be as high as 40
percent.
 Social Well Being
 Sustainability helps us to practice  Energy
voluntary simplicity which focuses
on consuming less but enjoying life  Today our main conventional
more. sources of energy are coal and oil.
A time will come when we will run
out of these resources. Renewable
sources of energy are the Sun,
wind, and water. And these will
remain for eternity. So, to preserve
our future, we have to tap into
these non-conventional sources of
energy. Also, these will create
more jobs in the process
 Business
 Sustainability offers lots of benefits
to businesses when it is integrated
into operations. Some major
advantages are

Construction Industry
 Since the construction industry
produces a large amount of waste,
contractors and owners of these
companies must reduce their
impact by recycling wherever
possible. This will lead to a healthy
workplace and environment.
 Sustainable Infrastructure  Nuclear Technology

 The concept of sustainable infrastructure  The international development sector is

refers to systems and equipment that are using sustainable nuclear technology in areas
designed to meet the people’s essential like agriculture, ecology, energy, food
service needs. These included bridges, preservation, hydrology, and medicine.
hydroelectric power stations, roads, etc.
Through sustainable infrastructure, we can
plan and build public operations and systems
that don’t threaten ecological processes
Agriculture
 Sustainable agriculture focuses on innovative methods such as crop rotation
and organic seeding techniques to promote high yields. This will help to
provide food for a large population.
Benefits of green construction

 COST REDUCTION
 INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
 IMPROVED HEALTH
 WASTE MINIMIZATION
 BETTER USE OF MATERIALS
 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
 NOISE AVOIDANCE
 BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE
 A NEW MARKET IS EMERGING
 ROOM FOR EXPERIMENTATION
How to live a sustainable life style?

 Recycle and dispose of waste

properly
 Walk, bike and use public transport
whenever possible
 Save water
 Don’t waste food
 Use renewable energy
 Save energy
