Course Description:
The objective of this course is to help the students develop an understanding of basic grammar and
language skills. Emphasis on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and to demonstrate how such
knowledge is pertinent for effective communication particularly in the field business.
Course Objectives:
This course incorporates four Basic English language skills – reading, writing, speaking and listening,
with chief emphasis on class participation resulting in both written and verbal responses.

Teaching & Learning Methodology
Teaching and learning goes hand in hand. The best learning occurs when teachers and
students both come prepared to the class ready to deal with the issues that are presented.
In this spirit, it is expected that students will assume the responsibility for their own
learning, which include; regularly attending the classes (at least 75 % attendance is
compulsory to take your final exam).

Guidelines – Final Group Projects
PO1: To assist students cognize fundamental concepts of linguistics & literature and to introduce them to courses from diverse fields to promote
trans disciplinary thinking.
PLO 1: to demonstrate the conventions of diverse textual genres (e.g. the non-fiction essay, poetry, autobiography, novel, memoir, films, plays, editorials
and so forth) in their own work and to make world a better place.
PLO 2: to employ the literary and rhetorical methods and strategies in reading and writing of texts.
PLO 3: to build relationship between language and society in order to provide solutions to the social issues.
PO2: To provide the lens of modern theories for a broad appreciation of global literature and intriguing aspects of human knowledge and
