US HISTORY Syllabus

Welcome to 10th grade US History! This course is designed to provide you with a deep

understanding of the historical events, movements, and individuals that have shaped the United

States that we know of it as today. My goal for this class is for you to have a good understanding

of the past of this country and how you can use it to help the current day events.

As your teacher, I am dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment

where every student feels valued and empowered to explore the big ideas of American history. I

believe in having open discussions, encouraging curiosity, and providing opportunities for

collaborative learning so that we all may grow together.

Basic Classroom Expectations:

Respect: Respect yourself, your peers, and your teacher. Treat others with kindness and

consideration.

enforced.

etc.).

Engagement: Stay focused and engaged during lectures, presentations, and group work.

Technology: Use of electronic devices is permitted for educational purposes only. No texting,

gaming, or social media during class.

Academic Integrity: Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated. All work must be your own

unless specified otherwise.

Excused Absences: Students with excused absences are responsible for making up missed work

within a reasonable timeframe, typically one day per day absent.

Unexcused Absences: No make-up work will be provided for unexcused absences.

Tardies: Tardiness disrupts the learning environment and will be addressed according to school

policy. Persistent tardiness may result in consequences such as detention.

will be accepted with a penalty, typically a deduction of 10% per day late up to 50%. Late

assignments MUST be submitted by the second to last week of the quarter.

Extra Credit:

Limited extra credit opportunities may be offered throughout the semester. These opportunities

will be communicated and must be completed within the specified timeframe.

Communication with Home/Students:

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached via email at

cadcox@colostate.edu during school hours. If you do end up emailing me outside of school

hours, I will respond the next school day. Additionally, I will send regular updates and

announcements through our class communication platform.

Thank you for your commitment to success in 10th grade US History. Let's embark on this
